can i access my External Hard drive from other places

    Is there a way that i can login / ftp into my external Hard drive from work/friends house etc ?

    You could setup a logmein account. Or you could just remote desktop into your own pc. You will have to setup options on yoru router like port/ip forwarding to allow this. But logmein would be the easiest

    Yep logmein is the answer, though would be fairly slow if you are thinking of copying files from it....

    No slower then a ftp connection. But only the paid version allows for transfers iirc. The free one only allows it for somethink like 1 hour. You could setup a ftp connection, moust router have this build in these days.

    Some routers allow you to plug in an external USB drive and either FTP or use the routers built in web server to access it. Will be slow as you'll be restricted to the upload speed of your ISP which is usually around 1MB.
