Anyone going to this? Could anyone who was there let me know what the vibe will be like? Was thinking of picking up a ticket. Cheers!

Went to it last year as it is near me and never again. Vibe was pretty good but the lack of facilities was a joke. Only one food stand, no toilets. Little kids running around everywhere robbing drink etc from yer tents.

music wise this festival looks really good, lots of dnb, breakcore, dubstep and its got chris clark who'd id like to see.
    good price too.

dunno what the facilities are gonna be like, heard they had no toilets one year, and some guys drove a tractor through one of the music tents lol.

anyone who's been know if you can bring your own booze and if they sell any decent food ?

Falafel was all they sold one year apparently so definitely bring your own food and booze.

Much better this year for facilities. Last year the toilets, vendors etc were all kept out because of the 60 days of rain. Food is by the same guys as Life, the Gourmet Offensive, proper good meals, chilli, lasagne, etc...

It's gonna be good, and buy your ticket in advance it's 20 quid cheaper.

You may laugh, but as i was in my own tent which the tractor ran through, myself, partner and unborn baby were nearly killed, I was injured and rushed to hospital.... i am not going into details but laughing at one of the worse organised festivals when peoles lives are at risk is a bit much.... how did this years go then... well organised? Everything run to plan?? karma? who knows but I havent slagged anyone off at mantua publicly but laughing at that incident is bulls&*T....

I heard from a singer who was supposed to play there last year that it was so badly organised when he got there that he turned around and left. The organisers were totally pissed and nothing had been done to address the problem of the 60 days of rain beforehand- it wasn't like they didn't know!
Wouldn't go near it unless i didn't mind sleeping in a pool of piss and vomit.

great weekend, i found it very well organised, sure some acts were put back a couple of hours but no matter, everyone was there having agreat time and the choice of music was excellent.
Having the campsite right besid the local village was great, the off licence and pub grub were a godsend. The food inside the festival sight was fantastic aswell, and cheap too!
Needed wellies but only muddy parts were at the entrance and a bit beside the water.

All in all a wild weekend!

i had a great weekend as well. it was way better than last year as it was so close to the local village so you could go to the pub for a while if you wanted to chill out away from the music. the field was muddy alright but a pair of wellies sorted that out. all in all, it was well organised, the locals were very welcoming and friendly. the music was deadly as well and all tastes were catered for!

Best Mantua, and best DIY festival in Ireland for me this year. Food, facilities, drinks etc were not just apt, but priced reasonably and clean!

Great music, and despite 4 days of madness, and a painful body, I cannot wait to go back again this year.

    How many people were there?

Only heard about this today, and I think I would've liked it.... :(

I'd say between 1200 - 2000 people, hard to tell really, decent numbers, never crowded.

I had a really good time at mantua, after the horror stories of last year I was dubious but it was all good. Yeah it was mucky, but it's a festival and as for the toilets you could find a decent one if you looked or go to the pub if you're that pushed...

    I highly reccomend this festival!

This year was the first one I went to, I actually only found out about last years incidents after I had gotten my ticket so I wasnt sure what to expect.

They seemed to have learned some lessons from last year as things seemed a lot more organised.

Plenty of food stands, big tents with decent sound systems, really good atmosphere with no knackers. I didnt see a single fight the whole weekend.

Deffo plan on going again next year.

The main problem with this place is the hassle for locals-my relatives literally live right across the road from the field it takes place in.

Also you can hear the music from about 10 miles away.

If your relatives don't like it, they can always lodge an objection to the license application when it comes around again next year. Good luck with that though, most locals I came across seemed happy enough with it (the shop and the B+B especially!)

Its a small festival so from what I could see there was little hassle, traffic flowed smoothly and the Gardai reserved parking spaces for church goers on Sunday. Also, the community centre gym was closed for the Saturday and Sunday but I presume that didnt ruin anybodies weekend.
All the locals I spoke to were in a great mood and loads were coming down to see what the whole thing was all about. They all seemed to be happy with it!

PS...the B&B breakfast every morning made my weekend! :D Best festival breakfast ever!

T'was my first year this year, and to be honest, I had a smile on my face the whole weekend, nothing like what I expected, its very couple orientated and seen a few of the bigger acts such as Daedelus walking around the place before his set.

It was mucky where the tractors were driving but it was good to see the forklifts coming every morning to bring away the portaloos and replace them, plus, the positioning of the portaloos meant anyone going for a piss was as well of to piss against the fence then walk to them, which of course is just improvisation seeing that there was about no more than 30 postaloos on site.

The food was great, plenty of selection, no burger vans which was great in my opinion, and the bar was fair enough, €5 a pint is about standard nowadays,

There was a headshop there too for those who wanted their salvia / spice / bzp etc....

I cant say a bad thing about it except that the programme for the bands was wrong, with most bands playing roughly 1 to 2 hours past the time listed........

But yeah, do go if your into the small makeshift festivals

(PS - top marks to the designers of the tardis bar, modelled on the tumulus)

Well, Im a 'near-local' and heard from a few villagers that certain places were scratching the sell by dates off beer cans and the like......

one girl told me of a pub charging €10 for a pack of cigarettes about 5 minutes from closing time, so hearing of complaining locals is plain stupid, a bit of life in a ghost town for 3 nights a year is no harm

did i hear correctly that its not happening this year?

Yeah, last time I looked at the myspace page, it said it wasn't on this year but back in 2010, I checked about 2/3 weeks ago.
More than likely, it lost a good bit of money last year, so they're probably putting it off for a year because of that, I know most small scale festivals like it come out with a loss, especially since they had to put in loads of portaloos etc to cover themselves after what went on the year before.
It's a pity though, it as well as Lost in Leechrum/Sliabh an Iarrian festival in Leitrim were my favourite festivals of the past 3 or so years, gonna give Life festival a go this year!

I'm genuinely gutted that Mantua isn't on. Was at it the last 2 years and it was class!

Going to check out Life festival this year, hopefully it will be a good replacement for Mantua!
