I bought this in Aldi yesterday.

    http://www.aldi.ie/ie/html/offers/58_6478.htm

I wanted to improve the signal in a room - NTL analogue. Absolutely no improvement. Any ideas?

Not technicnally minded on these gadgets, but thought it might make some difference.

All signal amplifiers only work at the start of a cable, not at the tv receiver end.

One designed for a TV aerial can't cope with the number of channels on cable. So the gadget would decrease quality at start of cable due to overload and be no help at the TV when the signal is already weak.

Do you have any perfect UPC analogue elsewehere in the house??

Yes, more or less perfect. The signal seems to vary in different rooms.

Then you have got some bad coax and/or bad connections. The possible differences in distance are not significant to cable frequencies.

Is there one cable or several cables coming in from main trunk cable?

If one cable then check where it is split. Tell us what kind of splitter is used.

I'm sure it's several coming from trunk.

It is a rented property and have not checked everything thoroughly yet, but there are a pile of cables/wires all in one part of the house...house alarm/tv.

I will have a proper look and maybe you can advise further. Thanks again.

It is several coming from trunk. I fiddled around with the cables in a very non technical way..just ensured they were all secure and this improved the signal.

I had been using a 32 inch LCD tv in that room, but when I compared the reception on a regular 'tube' tv, it was almost perfect on the old tv?

So, I will stick with the old tv in that room and add the booster to the other gadgets that I have bought in Aldi and Lidl over the years, but never actually use.

The LCD tvs have to convert the signal to Digital. They make worse ANY noise in picture and all are poorer colour. Some worse in all respects. They need a very perfect signal.

The "booster" is likely to overload with the number of channels on a Cable. It's only for TV aerials.

Digital Cable will perform much better than Analogue and Analogue cable will be phased out anyway.
