two years ago i went to a very fancy hairdressers. i was very open as to what they did (within reason). as in, they could layer the hell out of it etc. but this one absolutely butchered my hair, both sides weren't even, my fringe was too short(half way up my forehead), it was thinned out to the point where i couldn't blow dry it for fear of it just falling off. anyway, i got extensions, allowed my hair to grow(with the occasional trim just to get everything even again) and two years later my hair was long, thick and exactly how i like it....until yesterday!! i needed a trim as i'd not had one before xmas. i rang up, asked for my hairdresser but she was on holiday so they offered another. i though "what harm, i only want a trim"...
i asked for an inch off the bottom and for my fringe to be neatened. she said ok. then proceeded to run riot on the back of my head. she did take just an inch off from the longest part, while she had layered the rest well above my shoulders. now it feels thin again and i'm so upset with the whole thing! it's not awful but i feel that if i'm paying for a service, then why not grant my wishes instead of her doing what she wants. i'd have been better off trimming it myself. it's taken me two years to grow it so long and thick, now it'll take another two!

    so i'm just wondering..
does anybody know a reasonably cheap hairdresser in dublin south who really listens and doesn't get trigger happy??
and what's the scoop on those pills that make your hair grow quicker? like how much quicker would it grow 5 inches? and do they actually work?

sorry for the rant, but i've been fuming about the house between tears and rage... i feel better now!

Sorry to hear, I know how crap a bad haircut can make you feel :(

The only real advice I can offer is that next time you are getting your haircut make sure you speak up if the hairdresser starts doing something you're not too keen on. If you stop them as soon as you see something going amiss, they may be able to rescue it.

I wouldnt go to peter marks anyway, they are just a name at this stage and dont have any decent stylists as far as Im concerned. I find house of colour to be far better to be honest.

    Hi,
Just reading hair disasters on here tonight!
sorry bout yours, did you get it sorted?
I just said Id come on and have a look as my stylist is back workin after her baby now,and i told her id spread the good word.
Ive been goin to her for 5 years, and i find her great, she works from home, but goes to your house if its easier.
I get my color, cut and extensions with her and shes never done anything i didnt wnat her to,she is the only hairdresser ive ever been to that actually LISTENS to me!
If you didnt get sorted, let me know if you want her number,I would very highly recommend her!
Hope your hair is all better now!

    Hi there,
I don't know if this will help anybody but the last time I got mine cut I got it done in Zeba in Maynooth by a girl called Claire and she was absolutely fab. My hair is very long and think and she spent a good hour and half doing it but in a good way. She listened to what I said exactly and was just a lovely girl. I think that its a great salon. Haven't tried the one in town though.

The one in town is very good too. Theres a guy there, I can't quite remmeber his name but I want to say Derek, or Declan, but they could be just random names... I'll come back with the real name... but anyway he is very good and definately listens to what you want!

Hope your hair grows back nice, fast! :D
