Patio Sliding Door Roller Wheels

    Hi,

The wheels on my sliding patio door are beat. I need new ones and the window guy is trying to rip me off with like prices of €200 for a set. I took off my door and am pretty sure I could find those wheels on ebay. I am unsure as to how to remove the wheels though.

Any experts out there on this? I really could do with some sound advice.

    GF:confused:

They are very awkward. The Aluminium housings tend to weld.

The wieght of the double glazing is such that an inferior solution fails. Mine were shot on my workshop (old ones I got for nothing) and drilled holes and fitted steel washers on bolts as wheels. They wore out in no time and I got trapped in the shed by the door jamming. So I replaced it finally with a hinged door.

Ring a few HW places like McMahon, Chadwicks whatever.

Hi grungefreak1....Any look with getting these. I'm in the same position as you at the moment. Rollers are shot. Mine are plastic, though most I can see on the internet are steal.

    Hi Lars,

No joy so far. I'm in Ireland though (Waterford). I keep putting off the job.I'm gonna have to get off my ass and do something about it shortly. I will defo let you know if I get it sorted. Could you do the same should you get it sorted before me?

Will do...Im in Dublin..Will have a look in B&Q first.

FYI: I've changed one before, but I had a second hand one which was nearly shot. Got about a year out of it.

I know that when changing mine I had to take the frame off the door. Most of these are screwed from the frame down, so that's why you couldn't easily remove the wheels. It's not hard, just hassle. I checked another sliding door and it was the same.
