Creative Zen 8GB Player

I'm trying to decide on a new mp3 player and it's between the ipod 8gig nano and the Creative Zen 8GB.

At the moment the Zen seems like the better option, as I'd like a radio, it seems quite sturdy and good value for money. I don't quite understand about not needing software though, does that mean you can put on any mp3 file from you laptop (from windows media player, limewire etc)? How does that work?

Is there any features the ipod has that the Zen doesn't? What are 'podcasts' and what's the iPlayer?

Sorry to sound so completely clueless but I've only ever had a basic Sony model which is now over 3 years old and know nothing about all the new features etc!

What the no software bit means is that, you dont need the likes of itunes to transfer your music. All that happens is you plug it into your pc and drag your files across into the player, no messing with itunes. But if you want to sync the player with windows media player you can.

You copy your music folder, and you paste it into your creative's music folder...
Your creative will just show up as an external drive, or simply put, a folder, which you can open and copy and paste your files into it.

Have the 32GB version of the Creative Zen and love it - no complaints (apart from not being able to record from the radio but that's pretty minor - at least it has a radio to begin with!!).

Ah right, sounds handy. One of the reasons I didn't like my Sony was that I had to first import the files into the software, it was a real hassle.

How many songs would fit on an 8gb player more or less?

If it's this model, it has an SD slot so you can expand your storage, very nice feature.

    hi guys,
i`m considering getting this player, my question is how good is the sound when plugged in into a stereo? does it have aux output? or is the sound controlled only by the mp3 player?
    thanks
