Thanks to all who helped with advice on purchasing a camera. Most people where of the opinion of going for the canon 400D. In the end due to price constraints I went for a Sony A200.

Went to Ardgillen Park last night to take snaps and mess around with settings. It was quite foggy there so light wasn't brilliant. 1st time I used the camera so said I would upload them for some C&C. I know myself they are not as striking as some I have seen on here but we all got to start somewhere. I haven't edited these pictures yet using Photoshop (As still learning how to).

    Here they are:

Numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5 are nice pictures and I think could really be improved with some post processing. If you could bring out the blue in the sky and generally brighten them up a little, they would look much better. A programme like Lightroom or Photoshop will do wonders for cloudy day photos.

Not too fond of the last one: it's too hazy and not a great crop of the scene. You got a good wide angle with the first, and with some PP it could come out great

I like 'em all except #1.
As rgiller said they'll be nicer with a bit of work.

I really like no 5. I was up there myself last night for an after dinner walk. I think I passed by you or some other photographer taking a picture of the castle (similar to No 1). I really believe in learning to use your camera before learning to use photoshop. Was that on an auto setting?

I think for no 5 the camera may of been on auto as I am not 100% sure of what all the settings are. I also agree with you about learning to use the camera before learning photoshop.

It may of been me that was up there, was there with the girlfriend at around 6.30
