I'm on 3, i'm sick of not having free webtexts...does anyone know if they offer some and i'm just not seeing it? or any good third party sites - it's not worth it to be spammed...
rather wouldn't leave 3. they're great apart from this!

    AFAIK 3 dont offer webtexts
You could always get a free sim card from meteor or o2 and use that for free webtexts

Could also sign up with someone like sms discount and get cheaper texts. Some free, some not. People have mixed reports about them here. You could then use cabbage mobile or aft (search forum) to send.

Nope, Three don't have any webtexts. I have used vopibuster for texts on occasion to get some cheaper ones and using the AFT app on the phone as well, but I'm rarely sending texts compared to a lot of people.

I've been using Call13434.ie for the last two months or so for webtexts. These texts aren't free but cost just 1c/message to anywhere (except Italy, which costs 5c). This company's service seems quite decent and I haven't got any spam since I signed up. My only problem has been texting the USA where my friends there have told me that a completely different number appears with the SMS than my own. However, when texting Ireland, Australia and Georgia my number appears as normal with the text message meaning my friends can reply easily to my message.

    that looks pretty cool actually..

3 don't offer webtexts and their excuses have varied from the msn excuse (above) to the excuse "we offer so many ways of contacting people now" to the excuse "5c texts - which is really really cheap - cheaper than webtext"
