    Hi there,
just wondering has anyone here ever visited Leap Castle? It is apparently the most haunted castle in Europe and I've read that you can phone and book a visit. (It's privately owned but apparently the family are happy to take visitors and tell them about the castle).

A group of us are thinking of going but just wanted to hear from anyone who's been there. Is it worthwhile, or is it a tourist trap?

    Hi Tupins,

I'll move this to the main forum, I think you'll get a better response there. I haven't been to Leap myself but I know some of the other posters here have been and the impressions were generally good.

Its a grand spot even though my visit there wasnt the best. Tourist Trap is definately a phrase you cant use to discribe a place that has never advertised and doesnt even have a giftshop :D Its a family home and Sean etc are very welcoming!

    Thanks for the response 6th.

Can I ask why your visit wasn't the best?

Poorly organised. No fault of the location.

A visit to Leap is a visit to someone's home. It's very laid back, welcoming and homely. Sean is one of a kind and an absolute gent. He plays a mean whistle too. Its about as far removed from a tourist haunt as you are going to get.

I went expecting a haunted creepy castle, and I was very mislead in that regard. Its a great place with some wonderful spots, but evil and threatening? Nah. A wonderful place to visit, but for me more for the people and place than the spooks.

Though the church on the top floor was intense. :)

yep all as above, Sean is great, but don't go there expecting to see ghosts. The big issue is that it has such a great rep it is not possible for it to deliver on some of the stories the place has generated.
