Two of us in our late 20's and my mammy! (sun loving outdoors type mum in her early 50's) looking to go somewhere sunny and sandy in Europe for one week in mid- september. Went to Malia in Crete last year thanks to a travel agency and hated it as we are not 18 year olds looking to live on chips and walk through vomit every morning....so nowhere too club-y. Last year was my first foray into the package holiday and was really off putting... normaly go to a city but want to give my mum a good sunny holiday with at least 3 days worth of things to do and a bit of tame nightlife...boat trips to waterparks kinda thing... Budget - €2000 - €2500
    :)

Dubrovnik is lovely and it's a great combination of a sun holiday and a city break type break. The only thing I'd say most of the beaches in the area are shingle rather than sand and I'm also not sure if you would be guaranteed hot weather that late in the summer.

Croatia cools down quickly in mid-September as already mentioned.

    Maybe Sicily or Maderia?
