Can anybody give me some advice on buying a mineral foundation? Am reading a lot about it at the moment and would love to try one out?

I have used mineral foundation from www.everydayminerals.com and thought it was excellent. It's quite dewy and not powdery at all if you apply it correctly, yet it gives great coverage. It only takes a minute or two to apply and there's no great art to it. What more could ya want ?:)

You can order a free trial starter pack from them that includes 5 trial sizes of foundations, concealers and finishing powders. That way you can get the colour right. The pack is free but you have to pay for postage which was around 3 or 4 euro if I recall correctly. I know lots of people who've tried everyday minerals now and I've never heard a bad word about them.
No doubt someone here will contradict that any moment though:)
I think they're definitely worth a try all the same :)
You need a good powder brush for application btw . Make sure to get one of those too.

Prescriptives have started doing one now. You can find it in BTs. I only started using the other day but I like it so far but because of the brand I find it's way over-priced!

You definetly need a good brush when using mineral foundation to really buff it into your skin. Mac's 182 Kabuki is brilliant.

Actually just ordered the trial pack myself. saw i on one of those late night shopping channels and as im going to the states in october i want to try it out now so i can stock up then.

trial pack lets you choose 3 foundation shades, a blusher and a concealer for free and postage is only $4.50 which is about €2.85......a deal if ya ask me.

gonna go see if sheer cover (another brand) do a trial pack too.

my advice would be to try the maybeline mineral one for a few days to see if you like it and then invest in a good one. coverage is similar in all mineral makeups but the difference comes in the spf and how fine it is ground.

I ordered the everyday minerals trial kit and can recommend it. It's the only one I've tried as I am very happy with regular liquid foundation but wanted to know what the fuss was about the mineral stuff. Only complaint is that the powder can be a bit messy.

The samples come in little screw top pots and are fairly generous in size. Very happy with the colours, they were all neutral and wearable, nothing orange.

The pots are definitely generously enough sized. I'd say one foundation would last at least 5 days of everyday use. The blusher and concealer will last forever. There's enough for several troups of clowns .

+ one on the everyday minerals! The origonal and intensive are good for dryish combo skin. Free kit is very generous and theyre brushes are amazing (flat top and long handle kabuki) and sooo cheap.

Just wondering does anyone else find their skin very shiny and essentially oily since they started using mineral foundation/makeup?
I only started a week ago and granted I have oily skin (I'm so disappointed as I thought the mineral makeup might help reduce the clogged pores and blackheads) but an hour after application I am a mess :(
It has been quite humid for the last few days but today I went back to my previous benefit foundation and was matte until lunchtime.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Should I add powder or something on top?
I bought Fushia foundation from the shop in Drogheda - www.fushia.ie
    Any advise would be great,
    Thanks :)

I've tried the Boots 17 mineral foundation. Its cheap so you don't mind using loads of it, but I dunno how truely 'mineral' it is.

I do find it more like a powder than a foundation, but it is cheap enough to give it a try anyhoo!

I'd second all the suggestions for everyday minerals, so easy to apply, you can't go wrong and no tide marks ;) Great value too, especially the kits.

Just a word or warning about the L'Oreal and No 17 versions of mineral makeup is that they often contain oil, talc, fragrance and other pore-clogging ingredients. So if you're thinking about buying mineral make-up as a more natural alternative its worth baring in mind that most of the cheap ones are in fact no better than a normal powder.

I had a look on the site, but there are SO many colours!! How do I pick the right one??!?!!?

Do you use the finishing powder or the mineral foundation?

It's hard to pick the right one just by looking at colours on a computer screen, but if you have an idea of your skin tone it makes it a bit easier. They have some info on the site to help you pick the right shade. I bought the kits so I got to pick a few different shades, I tend to tan so I need to change colours a couple of times during the year to match my skin. Sometimes I need to mix colours to get the right shade, but with the powder that's easy to do. I use the foundation, I got one of the finishing powders but I didn't really like it, it was supposed to give a translucent finish, but it just made me looked caked, I love their bronzers though.

    Just ordered mine now...

What is the delivery time like?

    Try: http://www.lilylolo.co.uk/home.php

You can order sample sizes of the foundation, blusher and finishing powders.I ordered from them a few weeks back and the tiny pots of foundation last ages.Found it easy to use and it gave perfect results.Plus they do a wide range of shades in foundation so easy to find something that matches your skintone.

As an ethnic minority I have found it quite difficult to find the right shade of mineral makeup foundation that blends in with my skin undertones. Recently I found my perfect shade of foundation from Earthnicity Minerals (www.earthnicity.co.uk) and now I look so pretty when I go out clubbing.

About a week I think. I forgot I had ordered them when mine arrived. Nice surprise. :)
