Starting off in Graphic Design

    Hi All,

A friend of mine is big into graphic design, she is very good at drawing, loves art, is good at using photoshop, and doing pieces of work and photo manipulations and that kind of thing and wants to get into the world of graphic design, I really think she has a talent for it, and it's an industry she wants to go into.

But she doesn't really know where to start to look to find jobs to get into this industry, she has no working experience as in a job in this industry before but she has some good references from her previous jobs which were in a different field of work. She does have a personal portfolio of work however. Does anyone know what kind of jobs she should be looking for and any tips on getting hold of them to give her the best chance of finding employment?

    Thanks

try apb recruitment, try creativeireland.com (not so much for jobs - great forum).
If your pal hasnt any proffesional work, id suggest she tries to do some freebie stuff. She could offer her services to the local community centre/charity etc. Anything that would go into print.
She could then talk about the process dealing with the client etc. It would also show she was proactive about it.
    Good luck to her.
