ruby was hopeless at killarney hopeless at kilbeggan etc. is this man past his sell by date. often loses when hes money on. i think he should stop and might aswell give it all up. he should have won a race in killarney but it was a dead heat and then he was disqualified.

So you lost money on summer jumping? Wait until November and he and his charges are in thier element.

Ruby is still one of the best jockeys around, i dont think he is as good as McCoy riding lower class horse but when it comes to big races with class horse, he is in his element. I agree with Mike, wait till the jumping season then start backing Nicholls and Walsh. Also i think Walsh is better when he is NOT on the favourite.

Hahaha, Ruby finished? You have to be ripping the piss, you do realise the man you're writing off is Champion Jockey?

Anyway, summer jumps racing in Ireland is probably the hookiest market going. Unless you know something, be very tentative in what you back, have a look at the number of Favourites that win at summer jumps meetings in Ireland, that'll tell you all you need to know.

One of the worst forms of trolling I've seen on the horse racing forum.

Why is it every time a horse loses the jockey is blamed. It's ridiculous as this would infer that in every race most of the jockeys are useless.Sometimes the jockey may be poor but more often than not it's the horse who is not up to the task.
On the subject of Ruby he is I believe one of the best jump jockeys around at the moment and probably in the upper echelons of all time jockeys.I don't believe he is on the wane and I'm sure we will see him winning lots of top races come the winter again.

    FYI, Ruby has four mounts this evening in Ballinrobe;

    7:15 - Imperial Hills
    7:45 - Thiazi
    8:15 - Fantastic Star
    8:45 - Trevi Fountain

I like Ruby, only thing that I don't like is that when he's teamed up with Mullins or Nicholls he is always underpriced by at least a point. And I have been stung on a couple of his shorter priced horses but have never felt any reason to complain about the ride. More my selection that was at fault, rather than the jock.

I don't tend to post a lot but i think this comment was just left as a wind-up. Ruby is the best at the moment, in my opinion better than McCoy now but that's a different debate.

    Past his sell-by date? Ridiculous.

long time reader first time poster.
Hope u were watching the Galway plate. We were treated to masterclass in horsemanship and jockeying by one of the greatest sportmen ever produced by our nation. This big race of the week everybody wanted there few euro on Ruby. He is not top jockey for the two biggest stables in Ireland and Britain for no reason. I know I will get an honest ride from Ruby and if he's on the best horse he'll win and occasionally when not on the best horse he'll still win. An absolute genius and may I add a proper gentleman who is a great ambassador for our country.

The opening poster does a good imitation of the betting shop punter who swears at the TV, and blames the jockey.
If you bet based on who is riding the nag you might lose a bit. Many people back the top jocks blindly.

I agree with OP - he gets beaten too many times on short priced favs - nearly always loses if the horses are evenly matched on the run-in - just see when he was injured last year - Sam Thomas cleaned up everything - a blind man could win on some of the rides he gets

Although I'm positive this OP was merely on a 100% trolling mission...

Driver Herve Filion won more harness races than any one in history (15,000+). His most famous quote was:

"The driver gets too much of the credit when he wins and too much of the blame when he loses..."

no i have not. ya he does win a lot of races but thats because he gets the best rides. all i really ment was that ruby will nearly always let you down if you back him when hes favourite like today at clonmel he should have won the second last race but came nowhere but instead he wins a race where people wouldnt of backed him. i think hes a bookies jockey. the first post was a bit out of sorts even for me i suppose i was just really pissed off with him then.

Are you going to pop up everytime Ruby has a fall or a bad race and keep quiet whwn he is banging in the winners all over the place, i suggest you leave this little argument and thread with your tail tucked firmly between your legs
