My hair is naturally dark brown. over the years its been dyed black, plum, red and brown. I really wanna go blonde but wondering how to go about it. is it possible to get a good result over so many old colours? was hoping to get it highlighted in hair salon first few times and then do it at home cos salon is super expensive. has anyone done this and not had rainbow coloured hair?

    Hi,

I was colouring my hair too for years. Naturally I was dark brown and dyed it a darker brown, almost black colour. then I decided I wanted to have blond hair. Went to the hair dressers and they had to strip my hair, getting all the old colour out of it, leaving it a bright orange color. then they put a tint in it and then highlights on top of that.... Unreal.
Some serious amount of chemical put on my hair.... but was lucky to have very strong hair.
Give it some serious thought, it's alot of work and will cost about E200 to get done....
    Best of luck with it.

Iv been dying my hair for years and have had it light brown, dark brown, bright red, chestnut all sorts. I recently decided I wanted to go for a much lighter colour a sandy kind of blond for a change.

When I went to the hairdressers they told me the colour wouldnt lift if i just tried to put a blonde over all colour in it there and then and that i would defo have to start with loadsa blond highlights first then get them done again in about 3 months time and keep doin it until i eventually had the shade i was happy with.

It cost me about 170 but was well worth it both myself and the colourist couldnt believe how blonde my hair had came out after the first go and Iv been getting compliments on the colour ever since. I just cant wait to get them done again if i got that kind of result the first time round. Its expensive but you wont need to do it for another 3 months....
