Grocery bills for Irish families have risen by almost 9.5% during the last year, it has emerged today.

According to a report in today's Irish Examiner newspaper, essential items like bread, butter, and milk have increased by up to 30% - adding about €400 to the average annual food bill.

However the cost of fruit, vegetables and meat has not gone up so dramatically.
