    Croke park not available!?
WTF how is anyone gonna get a ticket for that game now. Thurles is a fine pitch but a hole of a town to get in and out of.

I can't see them getting tickets ready and shared out in time. Will it be pay at the gate again I wonder?

It's the word in Clare, seems someone said it on the news but hasn't been officially announced. The teams were told yesterday.

It make sense to the GAA. Fill Thurles or have 40,000 max in Dublin

seems the pitch in corker wouldn't be ready.
delighted its on in thurles. will ensure more people get to the game.

TBH I'd prefer Dublin. Nice to get there once a year anyway. Cork will beat us well in Thurles in Croker we play better.
I reckon you would have 55000 in Croke park as well. Cork and Waterford supporters alone would bring 40000. Clare 10k and Wexford another 8-10k.
Cork will play Kilkenny in semi and Waterford play Tipp in other.

Kinda happy it is Thurles just love that pitch...and we(waterford) play better there than in Croker. It is a pity it does not have a bigger capacity. There going to be some scramble for tickets over the next few days!!

A good decision by the GAA. It will be interesting to see how many of the people who didn't bother going last Saturday will be screaming for tickets to this one.

:D I've aother problem, Cork City are playing at the same time. Srious dilemma in deciding which one. Staying in Cokr and going to the Football (Soccer) will be cheaper but going to Thurles would be much more entertaining.

    HMMMMMM. I wonder

Indeed, it's coming closer to the time for proper fans missing out though. I was at the Tipp game and Dublin game (wasn't at the Galway game as I was on Holidays until Saturday evening). It will be fairly frustratng seeing one game a season fellas going instead of the fellas who go to every othr game

Whoever started work on the pitch in Croker on sunday evening made the decision for them.
Like last week we will now have the same dithering over tickets - will there be time to print them, distribute them and get returns back

I don't understand why the quarter finals location couldn't have been predetermined and tickets could have been printed on saturday night.

Dont forget also that the Minor Hurling Quarter final between Galway and Wexford is on that day as well in Semple.

    3 Games overall

Wonder will it be Pay at gate?

Given the counties that are involved, it makes a lot more sense to have it in Thurles whether Croke Park is available or not.

I remember this happened last year aswell and there was a huge scramble for tickets. After finally getting tickets the place still had about 7000 seats spare as there wasnt enough time for tickets to be returned. no doubt the same will happen this year. Il be glad its Thurles once I get my tickets :p although Croker would have been good.. Cork always play better in Thurles!

im glad its in thurles too, to be honest alot of the cork supporters will wait for the cats in the semi so if it a pay at the gate kinda affair i dont see there being a problem. Im not saying that Cork are going to win(i belive they will though), but alot of fans wont find the clare game as enticing as facing king henery and his cats!

I think its a good decision. I'd take a full Thurles over a half full Croker every day of the week, less of a journey for most to boot and a better atmosphere.

And Dublin traffic is a dream and a not a hole of a place??

Good decision to have this game in Thurles. I'm sure it will be a full house or not far off it. As already said its more convenient for all the counties aswell.

Anyone know when/if these tickets are going on sale? Theres certainly nothing on ticketmaster yet. I should think there'll be a bit of a scramble for these games. I'll defintely be going even though my county is out. I still need my hurling Championship fix. :)

Common sense prevails. There was rumours it would be Croke Park. Sick of having to go to Dublin for GAA matches.

Thurles is a much better option for the majority of people interested in these quarter final matches.
There will be no problem getting tickets.

So do we know if its ticket on the gate?

its a joke that the games arent on in croker....30,000 people are going to miss out on 3 great games!

City v Pats for me. I'd love to go to Thurles too. Why couldn't the Cork match be at 2pm or the City match on Friday? They're both massive games.

Have my tickets, but by all accounts, bar a few terrace tickets, this is a sell out and many people who assumed they'd be able to get some club allocated tickets have been let down.

While Thurles is a much better venue from the Cork and Waterford perspectives (I personally love the trips there), one can only assume that this is yet another poor miscalculated shambles by the GAA this Summer. To be fair, the quarter finals should be in Croke Park - if anything to ensure that all fans will get a chance to see them. The way the semi's are lining up, could well be sell-outs in HQ anyway.

The decision (whoever made it) to put the pitch in HQ out of commision for a weekend in the middle of July is crazy! It's been a Summer of error and amateurism for the GAA so far over various issues (all of which are discussed on this forum somewhere!).
