no idea but id say it would be a fair amount.

alot more than me sitting infront of a computer for 8 hours a day at work anyway.

Try wearing a pedometre for a couple of days. You can get little pink ones in most of the 2 euro shops. They're no good for running etc, but they should give you an idea how much you are walking.

What would I burn? Alot I'd say, I mean I'm not used to heels so the womens shoes would probably tear my calves up. Not to mention all the fluid loss from sweating in case anyone notices I'm a bloke and the inevitable sprint finish out of the building when they eventually do....

    Sorry....bored

Using the ACSM prediction equations for walking and making the assumption that you are average weight - say 60kgs - you would be burning just over 4kcals per minute (240kcals per hour)

This equation is based on steady state walking at just under 4mph. Waitressing is not steady state - there will be fast and slow times, plus you are carrying stuff. I guess that on average over the 7 hours you would consume about 275kcals per hour, so roughly 1900kcals in total, probably less.

This is just a good guess. It would totally depend on your size, plus how intensely you are working.

You'd burn quite a few calories I'd imagine, mostly from fat as it's pretty low intensity, even if you are running around the place it's still not exactly high-intensity work that would hit you anaerobically all that much.

Wouldn't mean jack though if you aren't watching what you eat!

if i know floor staff they're constantly picking at the meals i put under the lights for tables thus cancelling out their calorie burning while running up and down the restaurant.

You sure do see quite a few chubby waiters/waitresses/kitchen staff about the place! If you're around food you're liable to eat it!
