Alright I know this is UK only (and I don't usually post UK bargains at all) but this is a mega-bargain so here goes.

I was in Tesco in the UK recently and I got 16 Tesco own-brand Paracetamol tablets for 15p, yes your read right, 15p for a pack of 16. Also Tesco own-brand Aspirin tablets are 13p for a pack of 16. That's about 20c a pack. If you're up north or over in Britain anytime I'd suggest stocking up. The cheapest Paracetamol tablets I can find at Tesco here are Hedex at €1.65 for 12, that's €1.45 extra and you get 4 less tablets, it's a massive rip-off for a basic item. Surprise, surprise Dunnes Stores price is exactly the same....

By the way they have the same rules there about buying multiple packs of Paracetamol/Aspirin containing products, but you can always go on different days, make 2 separate purchases or go to 2 different Tesco stores. Also Tesco own-brand Indigestion Tablets (similar to Rennie) are just 88p for 48. Rennie here sell for about 3 times that price. There's no restriction on multiple purchases of indigestion tablets.

    +1
Tesco UK also have own-brand ibuprofen (aka Neurofen). I just literally couldn't believe how cheap in was in the UK. I'm preaching to the choir here but Ireland is a total ripoff in this area.
In my experience of my kids getting sick on various holidays I have found Spain and France are also extremely cheap for medicines (in this case I'm talking about prescription type ones)

    Speaking of which..

When I was in the States last month, I got 500 Aspirin tablets from Walgreen's (a reputable US pharmacy) for $3.99 (that's dollars) and they're excellent.

Unfortuneately I am nowhere near a Tesco UK store, but if you ask in any chemist for Ibuprofen, which is exactly the same as Nurofen, they are €5.07 for 48 tables. I couldnt get over it, Nurofen are twice that at least.

Also allergy pills are dirt cheap in the UK. Went to a superdrug to get another pack of the pills I had been on for hayfever, they were 65p for 14 compared to 6 something for 7 here!

Yeah, cost of living is really cheap in the UK. Used to live in Scotland and a jar of own brand ASDA curry sauce was 6p.

Wonder whats stopping Tesco from bringing their own brand Paracetamol tablets over here.

yea if you ask for the generic drug name it can be half or less than the branded stuff.Obviously the person at the counter would never tell you!

I dont remember exactly but I think it was something like 30 pence for 24 tablets in Tesco UK. Possibly less  Unbelieveably cheap, anyway.

Lidl sell own brand paracetemol for about 15p or less in the UK if I recall correctly.
Not sure if they stock them here though.

Usually all the stores have these all the time. Usually about 33p for ibuprofen and 15p for the round paracetemol and 24p for the caplets.

Boots will usually sell you as many as you like.

Tesco and Sainsburys will only allow you two packs. It's an in store policy.

You will often also find them in the pound shops.

Just go in to every Boots and Superdrug you pass and collect lots

I guess the Irish Medicines board won't allow them to sell generics.

I'd recomend Asda for pills and potions - they do the cheap generic paracetamol, aspirin and ibuprofen but also do generic antacids very cheap. They have their own brand of Zantac, Pepcid AC, Bisodols, Gaviscon liquid and tablets for very little, e.g. £1.38 for 12 Pepcid AC imitations.

They also do 2 for £4 on a very good range of vitamins. for example, their version of centrinium with probitics is £2.50 or 2 for £4.

    Who mentioned a hangover?!

People can get headaches for other reasons - I sit at a computer for (at least) 8 - 10 hours a day. And although I don't suffer from headaches too often myself, it can affect people who work in the computing field.

Some will since they up the price on the generics and can make more profit from them, while charging you less than the branded stuff. Never understood brand loyalty to some things, like drugs or thin unperfumed bleach.

I have not seen tesco stuff but there are a lot of cheaper versions in tesco, mostly Irish companies I think, but names most have not heard of, so essentially generics.

Does seem suspect though, antacids while skulling the €1 beers, then the tabs to cure it the next day ;)

I have gotten tablets online from the US, at least 1/10th the price as here. Dirty big tubs really intended for pharmacies to dish out in smaller bottles.
