yeah flew with them to orlando 3 years ago and they had the tv on the seat back so 8-9 channels to choose from plus games etc, didn't fly back from orlando so can't comment

in terms of i-drive the rodeway international is a decent hotel for the price, close to all the restaurants and universal/wet and wild and a bus stop outside the hotel will take you to seaworld in about 10 minutes, i stayed there in 2005, good japanese restaurant in the hotel too and they have a bar http://www.rodewayinnorlando.com/

Yes I second that, the Rodeway is a good bet. They also do shuttles to the theme parks. but have to pay for the Disneyworld one and book them a night or two before you're going. Stayed there three years ago and never had to complain once. Also there's a place straight across the road with an all you can eat breakfast, scrumptious, can't remember the name though.
Seeing as you're going to Orlando, might I suggest a trip to Discovery Cove. It's very expensive but boy is it worth it.

You'll have your work cut out for you in Orlando with no car. The only place i stayed on international drive was the quality inn. Clean and basic with ok facilities, shop, restaurant pool etc and very cheap. Don't think they do buses etc to theme parks, so the earlier hotel might be well worth a look if you've no car. Sizzlers buffet breakfast was the business, $9 for all you can eat (cereal, yogurt, fruit, pancakes, waffles, full cooked breakfast, donuts, muffins and a ton of stuff i would never have thought could be consumed at breakfast!) and pay extra for drinks.

We go to Orlando every year and without doubt you WILL need a car. Everthing is so spread out and International drive itself is nearly fifteen miles in Length from the I4 in the north to highway192 in the south. there is no public transport to speak of. Cant comment on hotels never stay in them. If you want everthing Orlando has to offer and beyond do yourself a favour and rent a car.

Disagree with TingTong, you won't need a car, there's buses up and down the idrive all day till late at night. Taxis can also be booked from the hotels. Just book a hotel with shuttle services. Last thing you want is to be arguing over directions lol! If you book Discovery Cove or Kennedy Space Centre, Tampa Bay etc the transport is included. Have a great time whatever you decide:D

exactly you don't need a car in orlando, there are two different bus companies that stop outside basically every hotel on i-drive, those buses are cheap and connect directly with the malls, downtown, seaworld, wet and wild and the convention centre. most hotels have free shuttles to universal and some charge a small fee for a bus to the disney parks

there is a free bus to busch gardens in tampa from universals parking lot each morning at 8.30am with the purchase of a combined seaworld/busch gardens ticket.

a taxi from the airport to i-drive that seats upwards of 6 people costs approx $40

Flew with Lingus last month direct ot Orlando. Was ok flight on time out and back.
As for the in flight service - food out was nice on the way home it was horrible!! As for entertainment, just movies which were recent bucket list on the outbound and some kids wizardy thing on the way home.
We didn't have tv in the seats in front - most of the flight didn't.
Couldn't fault the service of the crew either.
Be ware of the strict security in Orlando on arrival though - can be a bit irrating after such a long flight.

We stayed in the Enclave which were nice and literally around the corner from I drive - 2 mins walk. Would recommend them - as for not having a car - no problem. The i ride goes up and down from one Shopping mall (premium) to the other (prime) and has stops every 5 mins and only costs a dollar. Or even pay for the passes. Most of the accoms do transfers to the parks anyway.

    ENJOY

Emm, flight to Orlando was good for myself 2 years ago, entertainment was very good had a computer thingy screen in front of me with games and movies. Sort of got bored of it after a while tho, however you do have your own screen and freedom to watch what movie you decide. The 1st time I went to Orlando I flew into Boston and then down with Delta which was a biatch!

We stayed on not on international drive but behind it, literally 1 a minute walk and there you where on the drive. Crowne Plaza was the hotel, twas beautiful. Stayed there the first time I went, great location.

Second time we went we stayed in a massive house in Kissimee 10 miles outside orlando. We rented the house or a month and a SUV which worked out the same as staying in the CP for 2weeks.

If its your first time going id advise staying on International Drive. At bit expensive bit worth every cent.

Hey if you want to wait in the baking heat of the day for a bus go ahead be my guest. What I was getting at is that there is so much more to Orlando than just I-Drive, a car offers so much more freedom to do what you want to do. Your probably only going for two weeks, the last thing I would want to do is spend half of that waiting on buses....we do enough of that back here.
Keep an open mind you can always change your mind when you get there and the hotel you will be staying in would be able to organise car hire for you.
Last of all driving in the states is a pleasure and not a chore as it is back here. The M50 here could be considered a small country road over there.
