Prompted by the "Guitar Poll" thread, I thought I'd throw this out to the keys players.

<gasp> No Hammond here, the keyboard that was on every rock record between 1968 and 1973????

And where's Arp? And Moog? and Farfisa? :)

No Moog? No Kurzweil? Nord? Oberheim?

Well I don't own any of them anyway. Just a roland v-synth gt, so roland it is!

For years I would have sworn by Roland, but that was before I found Kurzweil. Everything just responds and works so much easier for me, the less messing around with menus and the more actual playing time the better.;)

And if there's a style or sound you're missing, you can chat directly with the people who design the sounds, as pretty much every keyboard mentioned in this thread so far has specific favourite sounds already on there on my latest board, the PC3X.:pac:

Shocking omission of Hammond in that Poll

Rhodes is right up there too tho. If you're talking modern mega-keyboards with a trillion sounds then Roland for me.

Maybe the OP only wants peoples views on the ones that are listed.

With so few choices, though, it's kind of like asking Lamborghini and Fiat owners whether their favorite car is Chevy, Ford, or Chrysler. :p

For the limited amount of experiance i have, yamaha ftw.

Have a Yamaha p-140. When I went to buy it I was torn between that and the Roland fp-3 I think. Fp- something. They had two fp models at the time and it was the cheaper one.

At first I much prefered the Roland, but I came around to the yamaha and then decided to get it cos it was on sale €140 cheaper than the roland on a particular website. Stopped playing keys in the band soon after and I don't use it particularly often these days. Handy to have though. Don't use it for anything apart from a piano sound.

I use a 49-key fully-weighted Studiologic midi keyboard and various (soft) samplers and VST instruments.

I'd get a Muse Receptor for it if I was planning to use it live. 49 is kinda short though, I've come to realise.
