As everyone knows here, I'm a huge fan of NutX.
However of late their powders have been below par. The last 2 tubs of Pro Matrix I bought (having to buy powder again, I feel like superman after he turns himself into a mortal:pac:) were well and truly sub standard, didn't mix well even in a blender and tasted well, cheap and gimmicky.
Pro Matrix before that was excellent, even the flavours have changed.
    Has anyone spotted this?

i bought a tub of ram a couple of days ago, the one with the new style label. it is definitely more orange in colour but tastes terrible compared to the previous formula, I can best describe it as tasting like flour mixed with water.

bring back the old formula ram!

if it this keeps up i'll be one customer they'll have lost.

Yeah Jon I have noticed the same thing with Big Whey. Bought 2 tubs a while back and they just dont mix at all and taste terrible, won't be getting it again. I've got some ON Gold and it's much nicer!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 338 ✭✭DM-BM

I think the new flavour vanilla Big Whey is yuk, the older was much nicer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,621 ✭✭✭yomchi

I'm surprised to be honest, their stuff was top dollar, texture taste and quality.
    Possibly a different manufacturer?

I hope it goes back to normal, I'll be putting that tub I have in the bin tbh. :(

It was usually a phone call to get an answer alas I've to ask others now ;)

The reason they tastes so bad is they have changed back to the old factory that used to make Nutritionx when they didnt tastes good I cant understand why they would do something as stupid like that I will never use nutritionx again I got a tub of big whey last week of there web site and after one shake it didnt mix good and I got sick as well in the BIN it went and I had to go out the next day and buy protein so I was down lot of money that week and the guys in the gym had the same complaint

haven't you guys thought of asking for you money back? notwithstanding what they say on their website about returns, perhaps you should contact the national consumer agency and ask for advice on this matter

This is a joke I got caught myself I got Matrix the other day and I just cant drink it Tastes like s... it cost enough for protein and I would only use NUTRITION-X well never again stay well clear of it total waste of money how could somthing taste so bad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,738 ✭✭✭Naos

I just got two tubs of ram and two tubs of Big whey at the start of the week :(

The strawberry whey tastes foul - I just down it as quick as I can. Haven't opened the mint choc yet, last one was lovely hopefully this is too.

As for RAM - I heard lots of people here saying how nice it is, never tried before. Got the orange one and wasn't too impressed but I'll drink it.

Has the actual nutritional benefits of the products diminished though?

I hope they can get it sorted out and that its only a minor glitch. Otherwise it will go down the pan with the stuff thats in the containers at the moment. For the first time ever I've heard of customers coming back to my old shop looking for refunds on NutX.
    Get it sorted lads!

I've already texted the relevant people to let them know. I've never had a bad exp. with NutX so I'm sad to see it getting a hard time here now.

I can't comment on the quality of the products as that's between each customer and the company and they're exercising their rights as consumers.

However I always find it suspicious when someone with no previous posts come on to a board just to contribute negatively to a thread. It's happened twice on this thread.

Mighty strange alright. Not only that, but I've been reliably informed that NutritionX haven't even been told by any of their customers that there's a problem with their product.

It all seems very Irish... Like come onto an internet message board and slag a brand that has always had a great reputation instead of just conctacting the company direct to see what's going on!! I'm not saying that's what Jon did, but this new poster certainly seems to have an axe to grind.

Like I said, I'm a big fan of Nutx and always have been. This is a recent development, and to me it is quite obvious that the powder has changed. I won't go into anything else and I'll leave my input here for now. But the powder has changed for definite. And they do know of customers who have been refunded in the recent past.

I'm working my way through a tub of big whey chocolate ATM.

I am very happy with the taste and the way it mixes. There has been no change in the quality of this product IMO.

One final point, for all those that went running claiming I'm slating NutritionX products, please remember my opening quote - I am a big fan of NutX... and then I went on to query something and ask fellow users. So Supplement gestapo, please get your facts right before running off ringing your new buddy's.;)

Got some new Pro-X recently, I think it tastes great in vanilla flavour as it always did, seems to take a little longer to mix it up to a creamy texture but as for taste and quality I look forward to drinking it everyday and still making great gains. It still tastes great when mixed with water, which cant be said for many other wheys on the market.

What I'd like to know is how well the supplementfactory vanilla compares when mixed to the Pro-X vanilla, guess I'm gonna have to give it a whirl sooner or later. And is the Frappucino a 'tastes great for a few weeks, then cant stand it any more' type flavour.

@ Hanley, were you not sponsored by Nutrition X ? If so don't you think that it's a bit Irish not to mention that.Maybe people do have an axe to grind, but if you know people in the company and recieved some form of help/sponsorship from them, then wouldn't it be fair to say that you have intrest in the company, beyond that of the average consumer ?

Obviously, sponsorship or not your entitled to your opinion, but in the intrest of fairness, i think you should mention it. If i am wrong then ignore the above.

Just to clarify, i don't have a problem with the quality, it's just i do not like the "new and improved" flavour as much as i liked the old one. I would put this down to personal taste, and don't see the need to contact them about this, it's not like they're going to make me a tub of the old flavour. I have not had any issues with mixing. It may be worth mentioning here that i have not tried any other brands, so can't compare Nutrition X flavours to others.

I have emailed them in the past on a totally unrelated issue and did not recieve a reply.

Just FYI, Hanley has never been sponsored by Nutrition X.

You're probably thinking of the ad he was in for them, but that was just the one picture well over a year ago. That's about the extent of his affiliation with Nutrition X.

Tbh, stating in your opening post that you're a big fan of Nutrition X means nothing. It reminds of when people start a sentence with the line 'no offence intended, but...' It's usually followed up with something insulting, but people think it's ok becasue they've added in that little disclaimer at the start.

Having owned a supplement shop for a while would you have not have contact info for the lads there?? Why wouldn't you go to them first, let them know that you got some dodgy stuff and see if they have an explanation?

I don't understand that tbh.. people here comment on various products all the time.
Personally I stopped buying Nutx a while ago, the last two big wheys I bought were very bitter tasting. I don't know if its a protein issue or a sweetener issue or something else. I don't know those guys or any of their competitors and I have no axe to grind. I realise that might not be the case for every poster here

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,985 ✭✭✭pvt.joker

Have to say I've had no problems with the quality of the stuff .I've just got some more chocolate whey, and it tastes the same as always., same with the RAM I've just bought.

I bought if from the gym though, so if they've changed the powder, maybe the gyms stock has been lying around for a while.
No problems with their stuff in my opinion anyway.

I think you misunderstood me. What I meant was that Jon has a problem with the last batch and is exercising his right as a consumer to come on a public forum and talk about it. However suddenly two new posters appear having just registered accounts JUST to complain about Nurtition X smacks of something less than straight up.

So is this true that the quality/taste has changed?I can't really tell since these new accounts are just randomly bashing NutritionX.OR did he just get unlucky with a bad tub?

If the answer is true, than could anyone recommend me another decent brand?

I can only speak for the batch of RAM that I have at the moment and can say that is not up the exceptionally high standard I have come to know and expect from Nutrition X. As for them not having not received a complaint yet they will get one from me tomorrow. Having only opened the tub on Saturday it's a bit difficult to complain to a company that's closed over the weekend. They deserve a couple of days off like the rest of us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,621 ✭✭✭yomchi

I didn't start this thread to bash Nutx. Simple as that.
As opposed to most of you on here who think I'm only stirring, I've known the lads behind NutX since ProX first hit the market and they operated out of a back door ware house. So spare me the moral code on posting.

The boys behind Nut X are sound, I've just had no contact with them in a while. Yes I spoke to the lads in the shop and they were wondering too about the change in flavour etc - hence my initial question.
Maybe one of the lads could come on and add a little, before I get burned at the stake.

Can you please use punctuation to get your point across better?

In my opinion, if you were such a loyal customer to nutrition x, then i think your being a bit dramatic. And I'm a no bull**** kind of guy myself when it comes to this stuff.

    Hi all

This is Alan Mc Nally from Nutrition X. This thread has been brought to our attention by some of our customers who contacted Eamonn Manning over the weekend, as Eamonn is currently the birth of his first child, (a bouncing a baby girl by the way) I feel its only right to respond to the issues being discussed.
Nutrition X has built its reputation solely on the quality, value and integrity of our products. We have always and continue to strive to produce the highest quality products at competitive prices. We stand over all our products and have always offer users a full money back guarantee if they are not satisfied with any of our products.
In relation to the points being discussed online, firstly let me point out that we regularly monitor internet forums as well as other sources to get feedback on how people feel about our products. Negative feedback can be hard to take but is a very useful tool for us as it enables us to focus on weak areas of our products and operations.
As whey protein is a dairy ingredient, it is difficult to maintain absolute consistancy over time, from batch to batch there can be slight changes in texture, mix and taste, this is standard across the industry.
We keep records of all customers complaints and take these very seriously. The last recorded complaint to Nutrition X was June 4th and was in relation to a missing scoop in XXX. I would just like to point out that none of the people discussing this topic on Boards.ie have contacted Nutrition X directly to avail of their money back guarantee. I welcome any genuine complaints and I can be contacted at alan@nutritionx.ie please leave a contact number and if possible a batch numer as all of our ingredient can be traced back through the supply chain.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the customers who brought this to our attention.
As Eamonn will have his hands full and very little sleep for a few weeks I will be a very busy man so I will not be in a position to join in any further forum discussions but we will continue to monitor as always.

    Many thanks

    Alan

This thread is about Nutrition X. There's a whole other thread dedicated to The Supplement Factory on the board, if you would like to make queries about it, do so there. But fyi it doesn't take a genius to figure out that a product sold direct to the consumer will afford a lower price point than one which passes two, three or more middle-men hands before hitting the shelves.

At the moment you don't seem to be contributing anything of note to the forum and seem hell bent on trolling and causing hassle, so if you'd like to stay here I strongly suggest you drop the vendetta again participate like a normal poster.

Edit: thanks for hte post, I'm sure many folk here appreciate you taking the time to let everyone know that you guys are listening. And pass on many congrats to Eamonn and his expanding family :)
