Camera Shop Advice

I would like to get some opinions on good camera shops. I live in Galway, but am in the Dublin area fairly regularly. I want to talk face to face with someone who knows their stuff and be able to handle the camera before I purchase.

I am a novice to photography, particularly digital (have used old SLR in the past). I think a bridge camera is probably ideal for me initially. I won't start another 'what camera to buy' thread, but it seems that I can't go wrong with Canon, Nikon and Fuji (recommended here as good bridge cameras)

    Thanks

Gunns, wexford street, they are very very helpful and AFAIK they are the best priced, atleast I have found them to be.

On a side note, getting an SLR i.e. a D40 or 1000D may not be much more expensive and may be much more useful than a Bridge if you are interested in learning. It also isn't much more complicated and in someways can be easier because you have much more direct control over every setting if you want but budget DSLRs also have a fully auto mode and several settings in between...

yes indeed, John and his daugthers are very helpful and nice.
you can also try another place on George's st, the Camera Exchange I think.

still, you gona pay premium price in Dublin (and in Ireland in general) for that kind of gear. If you're going abroad on hols, make sure to have look there for buying!
