N95 Dead, Don't Know Why

Hi, since last-night my N95 has been playing up. It won't turn on, and the occasional time it does it either asks me my PIN code, which when I enter it says "code error", or I get a message saying "enter Sim Card".
My phone hasn't been exposed to water, hasn't been dropped, I really haven't a clue whats wrong. I did get into my phone once last night, and Factory Resetted it, hoping that would solve my problem, but no.
If anyone could help me it would be great, I don't fancy sending it back to Nokia, partly because I couldn't spend 3 weeks without my phone!
    Thanks in advance
    Patrick

You can try updating software yourself here

Generic software / Changelog look here

Have you tried another sim? Have you tried your sim in another phone?
Don't do the fw update before you checked that the sim's ok! (sim must be in the phone during update, if the sim causes your problem, the fw update could go wrong and you have even bigger problems ;) !!!!!!!)

Tried 3 sims, no joy. Firmware is already at the latest. I was thinking of re-installing the firmware, but I am afraid that it might turn-off/make a mistake during the update.
    Don't know what to do...

I managed to "hard reset" it, (*#7370#), phone turned on, looked good, but then died, yet again. Is re-installing the firmware dodgy(seeing my phone randomly turns off, when on) and more importantly, will re-installing it do any good?
    Thanks again

Its work a try because you can backup before you do. Im not sure if it will fix it in this case, seems fairly bad i would suspect a more serious problem but you never now till you try these things.

Going to try it(If I can get my phone on), only thing I can do. Hope it works though, properly

Thanks Sam Vimes, do you know how much it would cost? See its under warranty, so if the worst comes to the worst, I'll leave it in with o2.

If you bring it into an 02 store-(02 only) I think they give ya a replacement over the counter if they see the fault and as long as you didnt cause the damage, its called the o2 swapout service, give a search on the 02 site for info

Yes o2 SOS will give you a replacement phone, it will be a refurbished unit and the warranty will continue from your original warranty. You don't have to accept it, you can ask them to send it anyway, which they most likely will send to Mprc.

this is true. pjjk90, first see if o2 will give you a new (refurbished) one and if not, bring it to mprc yourself because it'll be faster. it's free under the warranty, nokia pays them

you didn't say how old it is, but if it is under 30days old will give you a brand new one on the spot, older than 30 days its refurbished. If they dont have one in stock think its a day or two and they deliver one to your house.

Well I went in to o2 today, and I couldn't believe them. They won't do Anything with the phone, because the back cover was broke(a tiny hook on the cover, broke when I was changing the sim card in it), other than that, my phone is perfect.
Also, my phone is 10 months old.
I am going to chance getting a new cover, and hope that works.
Thanks for all your replies, it has helped.

borrow someones back cover and drop it in, to hell with that! try someone else or a different shop! I'd be dammed if they refused me a replacement as their a very dear phone;)
