60hz mode on pal tv

Have my ps2 hooked up to an phillips 20" tv, 4:3 model. When I select 60hz mode, there is colour, but there is also a high pitch sound when I select this option. So I was wondering is this normal?

Well It does not happen when I select 50hz mode.
