I normally bring the 24-105L to gigs in Dorans and it's fine but today I feel like experimenting maybe...
Would the 100mm Macro which also doubles up as a great portrait lense be ok to use? ie would it focus quickly enough?
Will still be bringing the 24-105L but just curious.

The 100mm macro should focus much quicker especially if you use the limiter switch.

Limiter Switch as in 0.48 rather than use 0.31 I take it?
Also no IS on this but sure we'll see how it copes today. :)

I'd say the 100mm will work well for you. It certainly is a good portrait lens. Nice detail with it, and f/2.8 will work well in low light.

Yeah, I'm curious, why I decided to experiment with it today, very happy with the 24-105L but this is my 3rd time in Dorans in under a month and it's on for 2 days so today will use both the 100mm and the 24-105L.
    Tommorow I'll use the 50mm 1.4 and the 24-105L.

Yeah thats the one set it to 0.48 and it wont focus down past that.

dont forget you get an extra top of light from the 100mm but it is longer so hold your camera very steady
