    Hi there,

I've just got a new laptop today, previous to this I had a 15'' screen but this time upgraded to a hp pavillion 9885 17''

Problem is its kinda been a waste of time, as all the web pages etc are tiny now and all to the left of the screen, text etc now seems much smaller too:( Im so disappointed, are there any settings I can change etc? This boards.ie site is however going the full width of the screen, I suppose it depends on the actual company setting up the website and how they chose to do it, but if anyone could help me to maybe make the text bigger over all and centre the bloody websites on screen that would keep me happy for a little while.

    thanks in advance

In firefox press ctrl and + at the same time to increase the size of text. Do ctrl and - to decrease.

And also, if you want things bigger in general, reduce your screen resolution.

To do this, minimize everything and right-click anywhere on the desktop(not on an icon of course), then scroll down to the bottom and click Properties. Then click the Settings tab and you will find a slider for the screen resolution. Try dropping it down a notch at a time to change it, hitting Apply each time to check how it looks.

The simplest thing to do is increase font size.

Right click a blank area of the desktop and click 'personalise'. You should see the 'adjust font size (DPI)' option. It'll give you an option then to set it to something like 120DPI. Or a custom DPI if you want.

I use the native resolution of 1920 x 1200 on my xps, its a huge resolution and takes a bit getting used to. You can open a few web pages at once, I dont mean to be rude but have you had an eye test.?! It is not too hard on the eyes IMO.

I would never go back to 15" screens again.
