I discovered this little gem last night.
    http://www.kingdomofloathing.com

It's quite a fun way to pass some time if you like multiplayer role playing games. Best thing about it is it's a browser based game so it's free and requires no download.

This will tell you more about it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Loathing

Also handy links if you decide to play:
    http://kol.coldfront.net/thekolwiki/index.php/Main_Page - Kolwiki
    http://forums.kingdomofloathing.com:8080/vb/ - Forums

People are very friendly on it, always willing to answer your questions and even send you free stuff out of the blue to help you get started.

I'm still figuring it out but I'll try briefly explain it.

It's like other mmo's you level up from doing certain quests and have different classes with their own special attacks. You get adventure points which you spend doing these quests, once you're out of points you can't do anymore until reset. Drinking and eating gives you more points but once you're drunk and full you can't get anymore.
It resets however every night and you get 40 adventure points each day and can add more as previously mentioned.
The currency is meat and drops off all the baddies. You can buy things off other players or from the shops to help make your char more powerful.
The baddies drop items too which you can use or sell.

You can join clans and depending on what stuff they have in their clan house you get free meat and adventures each day.
I haven't joined one yet so can delve too much into it.

I'm not sure what the level cap is - I've seen people that are level 176 but most seem to be around 1 - 40.

The only problem I found was its nearly impossible to find a decent guide for beginners anywhere, but as I said people are friendly and always willing to help.

If you do decide to play, my char is Butterlicious (level 4 Sauceror atm) post your name here and I'll add you :D

I wish our real-life currency was meat. I'm effin' hungry :\

Sorry Flo, once upon i time i would've been all over this like a dragon-suit on jimmy page, But i've lost waaaay too many hours of my life on simple MMORPGs in the past,text-based and otherwise. Thanks for the link anyway! :)

    No prob :)

I'm going through all of that now so I totally see where you're coming from hehe. They're so damn addictive though.
At least with this one you can't do much once your totally out of adventures and have to wait for reset. :D

Was into it a few years back; tried to login not too long ago and my account didn't work.

Wasn't arsed creating a new one and starting from scratch :/
