I was just wondering if Laser Rangefinders are legal for use in competition. I only ever saw the pro's use them in practice yet Padraig Harrington was using it during the Irish PGA.

Does anyone here have one, are they any good, how many shots would you save on a round

I'd say the amount of shots you save would be dependent on whether you are a low or high HC. Knowing its 168 or 171 wouldnt make a whole lot of difference to someone off 18 or w/e.

Would these gadgets not make caddies redundant to a degree?! I was playing with a guy last weekend who used one and theyre defo handy for the mid to low handicapper, especially on those courses that dont give you strokesavers, and only have those 100/150/200 yard markers and it doesnt state if the yardage is to the front or the middle of the green...I used it a few times and of course followed that up by duffing my iron shots :o
