    Hi all

Trying to sort out this major issue that has the office at war.:mad:

Can you please let you opinion known as to which is the proper statement.

The majority of us believe that it is correct to say your uncle-in-law when referring to your aunt's husband. :D

However a small minority of the office believe that this is a ridiculous description of an individual and should not be used. :(

Can you please voice your opinions on this matter as I am hoping to resolve this once and for all (and hopefully trimuph!)

    Thanks,

    Val !

"In-law" is generally what you use to describe someone who wouldn't be related to you unless they were married to a blood relative of yours (or unless you are married to a blood relative of their's).

So your aunt's husband is your uncle-in-law.

Your partner's aunt's husband is not related to you at all.

Not sure this is very philosophical but... Surely just "uncle"?

    My aunts husband = uncle
My partners aunts husband = partners uncle

A profoundly philosophical answer would be does it matter?

Don't think in-laws qualify as relations at all
