    Hi,
We are getting married in August 2009. We are thinking of going to the above on the honeymoon. We have heard though that Mauritius is crazy expensive so we might look at at alternative for a luxury week instead of Mauritius.
Does anyone have experience of honeymooning here?
    What are your recomendations?
    Thanks

Was there last September with the wife.
Mauritius is a lap of luxery, we went all inclusive in Legends and it was worth every penny. If your into golf, a savage course is not too far, designed by Peter Allis.
We went to Soth Africa on the way back, and it was ideal. Brings you back to some reality, and plenty of activities.
Be warned though, the temps in south africa that time of year are not too hectic, as its spring. Lovely country though with so much history.

We went to Legends aswell at the end of August a few years back! Highly recommend the all-inclusive:D Mauritius is amazing and the locals are so friendly.
There's lots to do aswell if you're into active holidays-diving, snorkeling, golf, kayaking, trips out to islands/forests - or you can just completely relax - get massages, lie on the beach with the guys handing you cucumber for your eyes, drinks, mini-pizzas and anything else you want!!!
Only problem was we didn't want to come back and it took us a while to get back to reality (service in restaurants here just isn't a patch on what you get used to while you're there!!!! It's actually a struggle to get to pour your own water:eek:)
thanks for bringing me back to those memories though:P

That we will have to order american dollars and exchange them over there.. We were thinking of getting traveller cheques and using our laser card over there. Does anyone have any advice?

yeah just bring some US dollars. they take it pretty much everywhere over there. And if you're going AI you won't need that much cash anyway! The credit-card is always handy to have:-)

You can only use laser cards in Ireland, unless you mean using it as an ATM card.

Has anyone been over to Mauritius in Late Jan/Feb? What would the typical costs be for say 10 days in the legends inc flights with a travel agent?

We are thinking of organising the trip ourselves cutting out the agent fees. There are good rates on flights through Paris and the Beau Rivage looks like a good resort has anyone any experience here?

We wouldn’t be too pushed about honeymoon suite or anything that elaborate the double rooms look fine - not sure about full board/half board rates either?
