No game supports them as of yet, most and all new releases will have them, some older games are getting patched to get them. You will get them from doing different things like completing a game at a set difficulty or getting so many head shots etc, they should have the conditions attached to them.

They are like Xbox 360 achievements

And people think that the Wii is gimmicky

What is this going to bring to a game?
SFA. Now if they would fix what people are actually complaining about, instead of giving pointless additions I would be happy

It's really just Sony again playing catch up to xbox live with their trophy system. I'm never interested in achievements but in a few games they game be fun, like Dead Rising, other than that they are meaningless. Online scoreboards for the likes of arcade live games are much preferable imo. Much prefer the smash bros. method, lay out the challenges and unlock cool stuff for succeeding in them :)

I do like trophy system and feel it adds a bit more to the games. Its like when you'd head down to the arcade and try and beat your friends high score on the machine. Imo it does add an extra bit of life to the game as I tend to not bother looking for all the hidden treasures as there is usually no point and on the PS3 nobody can even see that you've done it.

I would however prefer if they actually gave you something that added to the game instead of just a trophy. How great would Sonic of been if after you get all the emeralds all you get is a highscore, or maybe an unlocked piece of art work

I seriously do hate the incentives in games now to complete the side tasks, because all they give you is art work or "behind the scenes"/"making of..." documentaries.

Of course there are negatives to the unlocking mechanism as well. It's a pain when you have bought a game and don't have access to everything from the get go. It's really poor when it's a multiplayer game when ove half the characters and levels have to be unlocked to be the full experience.

Agreed, but its part of the fun trying to unlock things, that way you have a sence of achievement when you play the new levels and characters.
