Sorry can't help on the hairdresser recommendation, but if your hair does turn green ketchup is your friend. My hair turned green because of something in the water before and after trying various shamppos treatments etc one hairdresser recommended ketchup. I was reluctant at first but it really does work.

I have the same problem with something in the water giving my hair a green tinge...what did you do with the ketchup exactly??? Was there any shampoos you found that worked at all?

+ 1 for the ketchup - I'd say, wash with shampoo then massage ketchup in and rinse.

The Aussie range of shampoos and conditioners are great, Boots have 2 for €9.
They do a 3 minute miracle hair treatment which is brilliant. On holidays, wash your hair and put the treatment in and go sunbathing for a while, then when you rinse it it'll be nice and soft.

if dying your hair from blonde to brown, stick a layer of red hair dye over the blonde first - it will provide a better base for the brown to work off, and will make sure your hair won't turn green. Probably why the ketchup works - its RED!
