    Could anyone give me some advice on what would be the best 32"lcd in the price range of 400-700? I have my eye on two on komplett, a samsung and a sony. Both have DVB-T (when is this being launched in ireland?) but I can't find any reviews of either.
    Here they are;

    Are these the best value at the moment? I won't be using them for gaming but I would like it to have decent speakers and perhaps the ability to connect it to a laptop/pc.
    Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

    I was in currys this evening and found the following model for only 549euro- seems too good to be true;

    The picture quality compared to the other samsungs and sonys beside it was excellent- no blur and extremely deep colours.Any opinions?

    Also, is it true that DVD's will look worse on a hd screen than they do on my sd screen currently? On another thread someone said that but that worries me. We only have a basic dvd player that's a few years old and it connects via scart- will I have to buy a new one?

    Yes that going to be true. DVDs were designed for SDTV and CRTs did a great job of scaling resolutions and hiding any artifacts, noise.
    Now especially with cheap LCDs with poor scalers, these same DVDs are going to look very soft, noisy and grainy.
    A good upscaling DVD player with some good post-processing will improve things but you can't make a low resolution DVD look super clear and crisp when displayed a HDTV resolutions.

    Cheers, do you think our philips dvp3005 can upscale- the following link mentions 720p upscaling but I'm not sure as it's 3 years old now;

    It has component output so if you can buy some component cables, you could get it to upscale to 720p.
