    Hi guys,

My brother [22] wants to get this done to take the waves from his hair.

Where is the best place in Dublin to get this done? Is it dangerous he has fair hair.

I would really appreciate all advice given..

I think I saw a straighten it yourself kind of kit in boots today... Don't know anything about it but you could give it ago...

I've used that Boots kit. It was good - didn't really straighten completely, just made it less curly. Took hours to do as well but I suppose it would be a lot easier for a guy if he has short hair.

I'm sure any hairdressers would do it, just call and ask

    wouldnt reccommend a home kit

Best leavin it to someone who knows what they're doin

unreggd is rite. DON'T do a home chemical hair straightening treatment- it's too easy 2 screw up. it's essentially the same procedure as doing a permanent wave (perm/bodywave) except the hair is combed straight while the product is on it.

If however ur bro does decide to do a home job on it (personally i think he's mad if he does) then make sure you get a no-lye/lye-free formula, preferrably one without glycerin thioglycollate either, as its bn proven more likely to cause skin reactions (which can be pretty bad with perming/straightening @ the best of times) use one with an ammonium thioglycollate base if poss, and the best of luck 2him

i'm a trainee hairdresser, and i work with a trichologist, thats how i know :D

I'd recommend not to do it. I had it done in Asia and it really does feck up your hair. It's basically perming your hair straight using straightners. My hair is really brittle now. Have to put lots of hair treatments in it.

Also you have to think of regrowth!

Hey thanks for the reply - He got it done in dublin city by a salon recommended by a friend. It turned out great better hair than me now!! lol

The only thing is that it now looks a little emo straight is there anything he can do to create a little more wave ???

I think it depends on the method they use. As for the regrowth his hair is not really curly he would just have to blow dry it.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yeah maybe, it's been one of those things I've always wanted to try!

Probably wait until my hair grows a little longer though.

They charged him 200 and he was delighted with it.

But I think it looks a little too straight now and if anybody has any tips to make it a little wavy that would be great.

How long does it last 'straight'?

6 month also depends on the hair.
