Actor Zack Braff is to hang up his Scrubs and quit the TV medical comedy.
Show creator Bill Lawrence has confirmed the upcoming season of Scrubs will be Braff's last.
And Lawrence hints that Braff's final show could mark the end of the series: "The end of the show will be about J.D. (Braff's character) leaving the hospital."
But Lawrence also insists, "You can't kill this show."

I'm guessing its the last season

even before that i expected it to be its last because its moving tv station/timeslot and last season suffered due to airing episodes in the wrong order and short season because of the strike

    Hmmmm.. isn't this news from 2004?! ;):D

Every season since then has been "Braff's last"

I thought we all knew that this was the last season? There was some talk of Scrubs carring on without Zach Braff but it wouldn't work without him. I think its time to end Scrubs, it is getting a bit unfunny now.

Can't say i care really, Scrubs has stopped being any good like 4/5 years ago... It would have to be the last series though, how could you continue without Braff?

No Zach Braff = No Scrubs

I am not at all surprised being honest ... They are all getting too auld for the show now and have lost the appeal and charisma that they brought as interns and have lost since becoming fully-qualified doctors.

Agreed. I think it's become way too preachy and up itself in recent years. I gave up on it long ago even though I was a big fan of it when it first hit the scene.

Well it appears that some people are in denial -

    http://www.rte.ie/arts/2008/0717/braffz.html
(Creator Bill) Lawrence said: "The end of the show (season) will be about JD (Braff) leaving the hospital. When you leave, it's about holding on to your relationships."

When asked how long 'Scrubs' would continue, Lawrence said: "You can't kill this show."

Can't say I've enjoyed it in the last 3 years or so.

I remember before they said something like they wanted to end it before it got crap - bit late for that tbh. Early episodes were so much better.

Nearly every TV show gets progressively worse until it's finally ended (Frasier being the only exception I can think of, of all the shows that I have seen)

this is quite true there is only so much you can take of a show prime example being the simpsons how long has that been going now and its just ruined and i used to love it. but back on topic scrubs can't last without braff thats the shows main character so i can't see it going without him

I have every season on boxset and their is absolutely no comparison between the first 3 and the latter seasons ... repetitive and not all that great. By right they should have ended it at the last and not wait until a cast-member decides to leave the show (that's a presumption and hope by me, that because Braff is leaving that they will end the show)

When the network move was announced a few months ago, someone involved with the show (maybe Lawrence himself?) said that the show would go back to the standard of the earlier episodes. A little less comedy, and a little more drama...

I think with a bit of thought, they can give us stories with a punch, and some good laughs along the way.

If they can consistently pull off the standard of episodes like My Screw Up, My Lunch, and My Occurrence, scrubs can return to greatness.

Memo to Bill: Less of the Turk/Carla soap opera crap too, please.

I also think JD leaving could be a good thing. He was getting very VERY annoying in the last few seasons. Give me Cox's rants, Barbie's neuroses, Janitor's Pearls of Wisdom and Ted's .... er... Tedisms any day!

he still leaving still, hows this show still going?

They recently shot an episode in the Bahamas as part of the second half of season 7, which could end up being season 8.

This show is still going because its the nearest thing to a real life simpsons with the manic script and the fantasies.

Fantastic show but all good things come to an end. As good as all of the other characters are, I don't think it would survive without Braff.

Dont know about Courtney Cox playing the chief of medicine though.....dodgy.

Where did you see that Courtney Cox wil be playing the Chief of Medicine?

Quick tip PCros: it's best not to give a reaction to news that hasn't been linked to, or been made public knowledge in the thread already! ;):D

    Courtney Cox Joins 'Scrubs'

It's jumped networks from NBC to ABC who are going to give it a guarenteed timeslot (unlike nbc who shifted it around the network)

I dont really see how the show would go on in tis current state without JD, i mean its a story told through him so it wouldn't really work unless he dies and its told a bit like desperate housewives or a spin off.

On a side p[oint even though the show has had a dipp in form of late i would still argue it is better then a majority of other toss thats on telly at the moment.

no im going to disagree there, imo friends just got funnier and funnier towards the end. also why has everyone turned on scrubs, i think every season was as good as the last, its the funniest show at the moment

No way did Friends get funnier towards the end. Seasons 2-6 of Friends were really good but the final seasons weren't as funny.Scrubs is still really funny but I think they should end it now before it gets really bad.

I too think the show has reached a low. I know that the last season was disrupted by the writer's strike, but with Bob Kelso leaving, a key angle to the cast has gone. I was introduced to this programme by my kids who thought it was just enough anarchical to hit their funny bones, but even they lost interest in series 7.

Not sure a 'JD leaving the hospital' series is going to bring it back to the top...:(

Kelso actually hasnt left the show, hes still going to be in it as a regular. Couldnt get rid of Kelso!

"Ken Jenkins is not leaving the show, even though Kelso no longer works at the hospital. “Kelso won free muffins for life on the show, which gives him an excuse to hang around the hospital and be a different character,”

    Quoted from Bill Lawrence

If they had of lost Kelso they should of just scrapped it.
