Hi, Can anyone help. Im trying to get some golf gear for my boyfriends birthday but havent the first clue about it. Can be anything from golf clubs, golf bag or even a round of golf. Obvisously if I was getting the round of golf, I would like to get it for a really good course. He mentioned something about some bag from Mizuno that some golfer had at the Irish open but thats all the info I have on it. Can anyone give me any info on the the better golf courses, clubs and bags. Any bit would be a great help. Thanks guys.

I would suggest you go to McGurks in Leopardstown or Blanchardstown and get a Mizuno bag. You will get a good selection and value there. Don't get him a green fee. You normally want to play a course with your pals.

Maybe a voucher from McGuirks for, say, €150? Should get him any bag he wants. Make sure ya say "for that Mizuno bag ya wanted Petal" so he knows ya were listening - brownie points! ;)

Well Im looking for anything Golf related really. Even a trip to a tournament. Is there any good ones in England or Ireland now or coming up. A round of golf wouldnt be a problem either cos another couple say they would come so the guys could play the golf.

Maybe you could get him a Rescue club... :pac::pac:

Round of golf is a nice idea imo. Especially if one of his mates will play too as you say. Somewhere like Druid's Glen, Mount Julliet, etc. would please most golfers I'd imagine..

No, it wouldn't be a lightweight one. It would be one you'd stick on a trolley. Did he mention if it was a carry bag?

I find with golf product presents that if i don't pick it out myself i generally don't like it 100%.

If you're thinking of a club or something for him, i'd get him to pick it out.

If you want to get him a surprise, i'd go down the green fee route or trip away.

    Just a thought.

Mizuno also make a very good light weight carry bag, especially popular in America. this is the one

This is the top of the line Mizuno stand bag at the moment, the 2008 Tour Stand Bag.

I think you would be best getting more info from him, if he mentioned a lightweight mizuno bag used at the Irish open he sounds like he knows what he wants.

The one graeme posted isn't lightweight, but would be one used at Irish open. The carry bags above would be lightweight but not used at the Irish open as not big enough to carry all the bits and pieces that pros need.

Ya was asking him last night and the bag he already has is one ya put on a trolley, I thought he carried it:confused:, shows how much I no. So the first pic would probably be the best then?

Golf items are very personal choices so please please don't buy him anything. Do as a previous poster suggests, buy him a voucher so he can pick his own gear. Everyone has different preferences and until he goes to a shop and tries out some of the gear even he won't know what suits him. Buy the voucher, I would say a 500 Euro voucher is appropriate. Has he any golf gear at present?
    Good luck,
    John

    Buy him the bag.
Make sure the shop has a no quibble returns policy.
Tell the boyfriend you have the receipt if it's not exactly right.
Don't get upset if he changes it.
    Sorted.

After all, if you said you wanted a Gucci handbag for your birthday and he bought the wrong one you'd return it, right?

P.S. If he's the sort of guy that cares what sort of golf bag he has, don't be surprised if you come home to find he's borrowed your Gucci bag for a night out.

Ya think ill just get a voucher cos I really wouldnt have a club. So now another question, ha ha where to buy. Im in Galway so McGuirks would be a long way to go. Ya, has all the golf gear but wants better stuff, dont no if what he has is that good.:)
