    Hi everyone,
So I'm on this quest to pull off a really low budget wedding, so far i've found a really cheap venue, now all it needs is some decoration. Here's where you come in. I need some DIY tips on how to go about decorating and turning a basketball court into a wedding reception venue otherwise does anyone know anybody that does venue decorations that is affordable? Preferably around carlow.
Help! this is an SOS message going out to all you wonderful people out there. Thanks:)

loads of cheap white material that you can swag around the place,
Ribbons in your bridesmaid colours, shop around, and put bows on the swag.
This will take the initial basketball look away. Rope in your male friends :-)
Then there are places on the net you can rent vases etc., rent these, ask around your friends and see who likes flowers and would be comfortable doing some simple arrangements, think coloured stones in the bottom (get a big sacks in B&Q) fill with water, then architectural type flowers, as in big with definite shapes. pay a visit to the flower market and they will sell to you in bulk, there you have it.
Plus of course table covers etc. Candles in holders from the € shop if they are allowed. You can do this, and it will look fantastic.Only worry I would have is the lighting whic is very bright in a bsaketball arena, check this to get the ambiance right.

Hickeys and their competitors, price around, let them know how much you want, in terms of yardage and you may get a good deal. You can also order of the net, especially when in reality you don't care what material it is so long as it's white.

We had a wedding party in a marquee at our house a few weeks ago.....Bought marquee and decorated it ourself. We were also on tight budget....but got loads of cheap stuff in Ikea.

We used these to drap over walls of marquee. Worked really well. Marquee was attached to our garage and we drapped walls and ceiling of garage with these too. Worked out really cheap. Bought way too much so have big bag of them that we didnt even use that are still in they're packaging...so could sell to you if you interested.

Then we got lighting and candles also from Ikea to hang on walls and to leave on tables:

Hope these ideas will help you.

Bought tons of cheap white tealights in Tesco and bought tiny gold flower sequin (think a 2kg bag was a fiver) in an artshop and glued them on the side, looked really nice.
