Terrible. I'm a huge Terminator fan but that is about as interesting as dust.

Seemed like an alright teaser. One good thing I noticed was that there was no noticeable CGI, hopefully it remains that way.

Seems decent, reserve judgement I think. Love that Terminator theme <3

There wasn't much of anything, really.

not surprising really given that its not out till next summer and they're shooting now and due to be shooting till at least september. They wouldn't have any decent fx's [or sound or editing] done till post-production so anything in this is a rough mock up that I doubt you'll see in the finished film.

saying that i'm looking forward to this next year - the Sarah Connor Chronicles was actually watchable and its renewed my faith in the whole franchise after the tragedy that was rise of the machines.

Could be good. Could be terrible. Not enough in it to make a valid judgement. That's teasers for ya.

looks good enough. lookign forward to seeing it now.

Decent enough trailer. Like most people, Christian Bale's attachment is giving me a glimmer of hope.

Tbh, what little of it there is, i think it looks awesome!!!!

I seriously can't wait for this! If Christian Bale is good at anything, it's choosing what roles to play, has the guy even been in a bad movie?

I think the only thing this will have in common with the previous movies, is the name.

And i gotta agree, the Terminator theme is fan****ingtastic.

It's all new footage, take another look.:)

    I think the nature of the "teaser" is lost on some of you lads. They are designed in order to not give much away, but still leave with a feeling of what is to come. This teaser has given more to us than the TDK teaser did so i'm not worried. Here is some screenshots for ya's anyway;

Terminator died with T3. It was so p1ss poor there can never be any revival for it really. T1 and T2 = 2 of the finest action movies ever made. T3, T4 etc etc = Sh1t.

Funny you mention that Mackman, I just came across an article that has discouraged me:

    Interview with Roland Kickinger
    Link: http://www.clintonnewsrecord.com/Art...aspx?e=1117058

    What he says about Terminator:

“There’s a very strong scene in the film where John Connor for the first time meets the Terminator, and he doesn’t know if he’s a good guy or a bad guy,” said Kickinger.

“It’s Arnold’s character in the first Terminator. That’s basically my role, but 20 years before, so it establishes how the Terminator [came] about.”

I hope he doesn't mean this literally. This guy played Arnie in his biopic but unless he has Arnie's Terminator down to a tee this could be a huge mistake...

Meet? Do they have a little chat and a coffee?? Surely if he "meets" the terminator, terminator kills him.
Its been a while since ive seen the first one but as far as i an remember, Reese says they break into the time travelling place and see they terminator being sent back, so they send Reese back too. kind of a spur of the moment thing. so when does John "meet" the terminator??

Reign Of Fire. Of course he wasn't the superstar he is now back then and didn't have all the films in the world to choose from. Nowadays he picks roles that challenge him in some way. Which is a very good sign.

The TV show Sarah Connor Chronicles actually finds a sneaky way to get around T3.
They travel forward in time, skipping the events of T3
In the teaser trailer for this new movie John mentions that this isn't the future Sarah prepared him for. It looks like all that mucking about with the time stream caused severe changes. So I wouldn't expect the continuity to match up perfectly with T1 and T2 (and definately not T3 which technically does not exist anymore).

Yeah there is a scene where conor sits across the table from a terminator (in exo skeleton form) and says thinks like "is that your life? Barbeques and ball games?"

spoiler!! in the end, connor shoots the terminator with his gun taking him down in a climatic scene at an airport. However they hold hands while some moby track plays over and we fade to black. Den den, den da den!

...that should be within the realms of possibility!

Still not convinced by this, but I will get it a chance like I did with the TV series (which didn't disappoint).

JC: Seriously, you and me Ma, Sarah Connor, get it on/got it on. Its confusing
KR: Ah FFS! Why did i keep the photo of her you gave me?
JC: Cos she's got a great ass and you got your head all the way up it!!!

    Reign Of Fire.

people always name this film when asked to say a bad CB film and to be fair it wasn't great by any means but was it bad to the same degree as new INDY or countless other sh!te films that have been made by other A Listers,

It says alot for the man when the worst film people can think of them doing is a film that was a little below PAR.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

Agreed. Reign of Fire was certainly not the worst film I have ever seen. CB has proven himself with BB, The Machinist, 3:10 to Yuma, and American Pyscho (plus i'm sure TDK;)). I don't think CB would have signed up for something that would damage his career at this stage, especially since in effect this "new franchise" is meant to be a trilogy.:)

Without Bale, I couldn't care less. This teaser is nothing to get excited or disappointed about. That footage is a whole lot of nothing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,905 ✭✭✭✭Handsome Bob

Again, I think the "essence of the teaser" is lost on you. The teaser for TDK gave away very little (I think this teaser gives away more than it too!), but every fan went ga-ga over it all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,241 ✭✭✭Sanjuro

Nothing is lost on me. There's little to nothing in the teaser. A few scenery shots, a few shots of Bale. That's it. It doesn't give anything away, it doesn't give you a feel of the tone of the movie, it just has a voice over and that's it. THis isn't a criticism, I'm just saying anyone who gets excited over it or slates it is going over the top either way.

Fair enough, but if you check out the screenshots that I provided, there is more than enough provided.

Plus, of course, there is the line "this is not the future my mother warned me about" which has endless interpretations. Much more than a voice over with a simple bat sign, and I don't think there is anyone more psyched for TDK than me on these boards!

Good point re Shaft Jar 421!

Just because they are established quality actors doesnt mean they are free from bad decisions. Ed norton - Incredible Hulk anyone?

Also look at the road Pacino and De niro started to go down many years ago...

ah yeah, its all for art's sake!!

I wonder if they'll use flashbacks/flashforwards from T1/T2 with this one?

    Loved T1 & T2.....never even acknowledged T3's existence tbh.
    Looking forward already

He has been heavily involved with this film, McG has consulted him on it. It was Cameron who suggested Sam Worthington for the film.

The teaser has calmed the waves with me when it comes to McG, in my humble opinion it looks great.

Now just once that "rumoured ending" turns out to be false i'm willing to put my faith in the guy...

Oh yes I have AICN to thank for telling me the ending without spoiler tags a full year before the film comes out.

TBH I don't see why all the fanboys are getting their knickers in a twist about 'that' rumoured ending. If implemented properly it could be a great surprise.... if someone didn't go spoiling it for everyone.

Having watched the trailer numerous times over the past few days I have to say that I am very impressed. All the McG bashing is a bit unfair as while he may has directed the terrible Charlie's Angels he's also done the strangly enjoyable We Are Marshall which actually had a plot and did'nt rely on fancy camera work and effects to carry it.

The trailer and images released all bode weel that McG has'nt just gone and raped the franchise to turn a fast buck and Cameron's involvement and endorsement of McG should be enough reassurence for even the msot rabid fan boy.

This initial hatred for McG is just like when Bay was confirmed for Transformers. Fan boys were enraged that a hack like Bay was directing. Then the film came out and they realised that Bay had done a damn fine job and when rumours of Bay being replaced leaked they were demanding that no one but Bay direct.

I read the same spoiler by accident. Pain in the arse. However, I did slap my head when I read it. It's rather silly.

As teasers go it gave a lot of info - some nice shots of some strange looking Terminators. As for Bale, he's now in a position to turn down anything he wants. With the Batman franchise he doesn't need this. Therefor I reckon the script must be good. Bale must be weighed down with all the hope pinned to him.

    Great pic The_Egde.

For the record I kinda liked Reign of Fire, was a decent film and I thought Bale played the part very well. Connor will no doubt be a similar character again.

having avoided terminator 3 like the plague im looking forward to this one.

question regarding the sarah connor chronicles

I saw a trailer for it awhile back and remember getting the impression that it looked like buffy the vampire slayer with added robots.

was I wrong in my assesment?
would it bear any similaritys to say Lost or Battlestar Gallactica in terms of direction, characters etc?

It's actually very good and features one of TVs greatest ever shoot outs. It wisely side steps T3 and when all things are considered it remains one of last years best shows though that said it's not quite Battlestar. The R1 DVD is only about 17 dollars to preorder on amazon and for that price you can't go wrong.

Does the Sarah Connor chronicles fit in with Salvation? I head Salvation is basically just doing a retcon and pretending T3 never happened?

    In the Sarah Connor Chronicles
T3 never happens as they travel to the future in the first episode so the events of T3 never take place. This means that Salvation could quite easily follow the SCC though Kate Brewsters inclusion may mean that it does follow T3 as no mention of her is made in the TV show.

To spend 3 films telling us how John Connor is the saviour of the human race but only to then say "he didn't have it in him when it came down to it", it would be a really distasteful move by McG....

it dismisses John Connor. By killing him, they are basically saying "the guy never grew into leadership, never embraced his destiny and was weak".

Something that should be kept in mind is that McG has consulted Cameron; I assume McG laid out the story for him, and I can't fathom Cameron giving his blessing......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,510 ✭✭✭sprinkles

Surely all that happened in T3 is that skynet went awol and the whole machine v human thing emerged. If that didn't happen then there wouldn't be a premise for the new films... can't see any reason to ignore T3.
