I have been a Vodafone Ireland ( 2 phones ) customer for over 10 years. Recently one of my phones a Nokia 6680 was accidently knocked from my hand and would not work.As I needed a phone on that particular number I put my sim card into my old Vodafone supplied Motorola which would not work in any event as the speaker had failed. Vodafone Insurance have declined my claim on the basis that on the day I was not using the insured phone, the Nokia. No allowance for my switching the sims to have a working phone. Aside from their stance appearing to suggest they are of the opinion I am attempting to make a fraudulent claim they will not reply to my correspondence. It appears they have made their decision and thats that, stuff the customer. I have cancelled the insurance on both phones today and tomorrow I will switch both phones to another provider Meteor. Does anybody know who Vodafone insurance are.
Are they a wholly owned Vodafone company or some other Co simply flying the Vodafone flag.

I'm not sure I follow. Why do the insurance company deem you using your sim in another phone as a fraudulent claim? That make no logical sense. In fact, suppliers will usually give you a temp phone for such situations.

I think you've either explained things poorly here to us or to Vodafone's insurance company.

I'm reading the T&C on this page.

The insurance seems to be run by Royal and Sun Alliance.

They have a clause which says
Loss, theft or damage of the Insured Equipment where at the time of loss, theft or damage or for a period of 15 days immediately preceding the time of loss theft or damage the Insured Equipment is not registered on the Vodafone mobile telephone network and/or the registered SIM card is not in the Insured Equipment.

which seems to put them in the right and tough to you unfortunitly.

I would suggest following their complaints procedure
    # Complaints - if you have any cause for complaint, you should in the first instance contact Vodafone Claims Management Services at Tel. No. (01) 6048168. You can also contact The Company at Tel. No. (01) 677 1851. You can also contact Vodafone Customer Care at FreeFone No. 1907. If you are still dissatisfied, you may contact:

    * The Insurance Ombudsman of Ireland, 32 Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2.

    Yeah - complain
I had an insurance claim rejected by them cause I didn't report the original fault to them in time - the phone was sent by them to the repair centre

Anywho a phone call and well written letter soon sorted it out.
Be reasonable in the letter and they will respond likewise.

    Mik

you're not explaining it very well.

was the vodafone sim in the nokia when it was damaged, and if it was was this explained to them? then they have no reason to decline it.

by your telling it sounds ike they are declining you for using another phone while this gets sorted out...which...well makes no sense!
