The only people who have a breakdown-recover vehicle back to Ireland insurance for motorcaravans is the Motorcaravan club of Ireland its underwritten by Mondial. The RAC might do it but the price is very high.

Jardine Lloyd Thompson do an annual multi trip family policy which includes european breakdown cover and repatriation for about 100 euros. I have had this cover for the last 3 years. Covers vans up to 11 years old.

Dolmen Insurance have a breakdown service including europe in their policy.

Do Dolmen still do the breakdown cover?. When I renewed last year, I got all the details. This year there was nothing to do with breakdown cover included with the insurance cert.

It does'nt appear to be dependent on year (mine is 1999). Did you get a booklet with your insurance certificate, an Axa/Dolmen publication. If so see page 21, Breakdown Assistance Cover. Basically, provided you are more then 20 miles from home and you breakdown, they will send out a "motor trade professional" to get you going again. If he can't fix it on the spot (up to 1 hours labour is included) he will tow you to the nearest competent repairer or any other location within 50 miles. Covers most of western Europe although not it seems many of the newer EU member states.
You MUST use their freephone number, quote "any expenses incurred prior to or without calling this number will not be covered". Unquote.

Thanks... I'll check it out... FYI, I looked on Dolmens website and didn't see a mention there under campers - http://www.dolmen-insurance.ie/camper.htm
