Cost of a J1

Guys I'm thinking about doing a J1 to Boston next summer. I've only just returned from visiting a friend over there and he seems to love it and I really miss the place already!

He hasn't been able to find a job though and lots like him are in the same boat.

How much does it cost to go and do a J1 in all though? The visa itself, the flights and the medicore stuff like food costs and whatnot.

If anyone can give men even a quick estimate I'd be most grateful.

Then money to bring over, most people I know bring around about $2-3k.

I was also wondering about J1 for next summer,

Do you have to go through Usit or can you organise everything yourself?

I think USIT or Sayit are the best ones really...anyone I know has gone through them.

    Thanks Holsten!

Overall the flights and visa cost me a E1000 through Go4less and then at least another E1000 just to get me going, no job so it might be more but E4000 should easily cover it and if you got a job maybe half that.
Obviously if you could afford more go for it, jobs are hard to come by this year I've been told, big slow down over here... oh did I mention I'm here now :D
