Personally, COD4 and WarHawk make up most of my online gaming on PS3. I have dabbled in Metal Gear Online as well, but the SP campaign of MGS4 is still taking up most of my time. Unreal Tournament III is also awesome online, as well as Tekken Online from the PSN.

I am not big into multiplayer games in general purely because I prefer single-player experiences so maybe someone more knowledgable can add to this.

I've only played CoD4 on the PC, as I prefer to play FPS games with the mouse/keyboard combo, but it is by far the best online gaming experience I've ever had. I can only assume the PS3 version is similar.

    COD4 is fantastic except:

The hosting is atrocious. Completely random so you could well be playing on a canadian host with a shíte ping and only find out when you try to shoot someone, find it does nothing and end up being killed yourself.

The hosting is done on other players ps3s, so if they decide they're not happy with their team losing and leave the game, that's the game over.

Since it is done on other peoples connections, there's no telling how good the connection is and if they've connection issues, it will affect the other 11-17 players in the game.

There's no control for the hosts, can't pick maps, can't boot problem making players etc and as a consequence there's a f*ck load of campers and kids screaming down their mic. Thankfully the pic thing was finally addressed though.

Apart from that it's excellent, just wish they'd do more updates/maps for it as they're getting a bit boring.

Metal gear online is pretty good.

I would agree if the camera was a rigid over the shoulder and not rotatable.

Too many people finding a camp spot and using the camera to look around corners/over obsticals etc

Yep same here... agree with most of these...

Used to play SOCOM on the PS2 online and although it had it's flaws it's usability was far better than COD4, looking forward to when they bring out the PS3 version (later this year hopefully) of SOCOM to see if it improves anything...

pretty much sums up my thoughts on console online gaming tbh at least ps3 owners aren't being raped in the wallet at the same time.
