Don't usually post much in this forum, usually just lurk around, but would anyone else like to see this fight? Always seem to be snipping at each other lately, might make a good fight, everyone pays a tenner in, money goes to charity, good times.

I'll spar with big ears to get him ready-big ears wins hands down anyway, college boy does not have the temperment or discipline. He would have a cue of people willing to fight him as he seems to be alway's picking at people. Big ears big ears!

If i remember right Big Ears has never being in the ring (feel free to correct me) . So if hero of college has any ring experence at all it would make him a slight favourite, Having said that if his boxing experence is college boxing it will not take most to close he gap :D

Or Big Ears (as a poster i admire ) if you feel that you do want nothing to do with this . I offer to take your place ,
A very unfit and overweight 38 year old..(who has not being in a ring in 12 years) v Hero of college.

YES YE ARE RIGHT LADS VERY UNFAIR

Hero you can bring " EAGLE EYE " :D

i'll be cheering on rock or big ears, i'm sure there's more on here that would like to take him on too. What weight is he out of interest? I might even get back into training for that! For charity reason's i mean.

I would hazard a guess that Hero of College is definitely not a black man...just a hunch

    Why is it racist???

I mean, Gerry Cooney was the "Great White Hope For Great White Dopes"....so said Larry Holmes.

Surely, we could say the same of David, the way he is being hyped after some wins over suspect oppostion???

Howard Cossell used to rant and rave that Cooney could "KO You With The First Punch He Landed".......sounds awfully similar to the nonsense being spouted by todays Media people, albeit that Cossell was a grossly superior analyst and commentator than the likes of Steve Bunce.

How else can we interpret Steve Bunces plaintive, bleating, heartbroken expressions as one challenger after another fails to remove this horrible, white, european blight from the Heavyweight landscape??

Its congruous. Holmes is Klitscho, Cooney is Haye. Enzo Mac is Ken Norton and Tony Thompson is Mike Weaver.

I mean, if you can raise yourself above the nonsense allegations you make of "racism"...then I'd be more than happy to give you a verbal and literary beating.

As for the other beating you are looking for, I am 6'3", 215lbs, Former Colours and Intervarsity, British and Irish Uni Hvy Champ. Hence the name, "Hero of College".

I am 3'6" at the waist,
    My favour colour is blue,
"Intervarsity " had one and got the all clear.
Uni Boxing champ WOW that some standard (fingers trembling as I type )
I move that slow hence the name " Rockman "

Seems to me we are about the same standard.

So you fought in a novice championship and probably had 2 fights, Rockman has gave you a good offer of a charity match?
i think i could get you on a blue collar boxing night if your up for it, the only thing worth pointing out above is that your a big guy.

Well I think Hero has a slight height and weight advantage there as I'm 5'8 and 150 lbs . I'm in good condition as I run a few miles everyday and do some strength and conditioning with that but as ROCKMAN says I haven't ever got in the ring which changes this from a complete mismatch into a Frank Warren type matchup .

I meant to take it up during the summer but the football(soccer) season went on much longer than expected and considering the local gym is poorly run I didn't think there was much point going there for a few weeks as I'm off to college soon(where I shall be taking it up) .

So the proposed match up would be kinda pointless, although I've no problem fighting a similarly matched opponent to myself if someone else steps in against Hero and we do this for charity .

I think you are all behaving like a bunch of Pavees. First off, I never threatened anybody or threw my weight around. I expressed an opinion. And I expressed it openly. I didn't abuse my standing by sneaking around modifying peoples threads and posts. When I posted my sentiments openly, the thread was deleted by you. Now you're too small to fight me, and probably don't have the talent anyways, so you are trawling the campsite for a man that will. Make no mistake about it....I will crack the head of any non-professional Irish fighter you can find. But I'm not looking for a fight and I won't be called out by any auld traveller over any auld pony. I am here to talk boxing and if you can't stand getting the odd verbal disagreement every now and then, maybe you should hand in your Mod/Admin badge and move on.

I spent 7 years in College, in Ireland, and 1 in the Royal College of Surgeons in England.

Whilst I didn't fight while studying in England, I did help prepare a lot of fighters. I met David Dolan and sparred him on several occassions. I am not on Davids level but I am waaaay above any Blue Collar fight-night thing.

Thats a lot more than 2 fights pal.

Hero, all you've done since you started to use this thread is cause arguments, we always have healthy debate here but its never personal.
you've upset at least 5 people from the threads i've read and come across as a troll looking for trouble, big ears is no rowdy and has a genuine love of boxing and has expressed an interest in getting into the sport in a college type manner, maybe you should chill out a bit and keep to the boxing stories, and any non pro boxer? you've got to be joking! otherwise you dont understand the standard of amateur boxing in ireland.

I actually didn't delete than thread Ruggiebear did, and it was deleted before I even saw it . Travellers don't organise a few 'exhibition' bouts for charity, they get bare knuckle men to fight like what was done 150 years ago, it's very different .

The reason I changed the 'Dunce' to 'Bunce'(and only did this once) was because I felt many forum readers who aren't already familar with the guy would believe that's his name because you had barely(if at all) reffered to him by his real name .

You can right things like that if you want but nicknames like Bunce or 'Smelly Kelly'() take the imagination of a 6 year old .

This isn't a democracy but if people want me to quit as a mod I will, the reason I took up the moderatorship of this forum in the first place was to improve it so if people feel I'm doing the opposite I'll leave .

    hey cowzerp
would love some tips on learning to box,
I have been doing TKD for 3 years now but although we work on punching on punchbags and do use fists while sparring alot of emphasis is spent on kicking and my teacher probably learned his boxing skills in the same way i.e many holes in the basics
any good sites etc would be welcome

ps what about the comp update after Rock fight?

Look this was being talked about as a charity thing, Which I was well up for as a step in for a out matched Big Ears , But your name dropping and stating you would crack any non irish pro an insulting members of a certain communityetc etc is out of line.

I have stated I am very unfit and am 38 which are both very true It would take me ten weeks to get anyway near fit , However if you are interested for charity lets see if you can crack this old man head.

As for myself never boxed blue collar not even sure what it is ?
I will say I boxed for 12/13 years , At what level i'll tell you on the night
and yes I won ONE OR TWO FIGHTS
So what to think Hero ?

So are you willing to fight Rockman in a charity match? I'm fairly sure you could raise a substantial amount of money through Boards.ie promotion.

As a "physician" you must be able to think of a few worthy causes aswell?

You're too old, and you are not on my level. I don't say that as an insult, I am in my late 20's and I have sparred with fringe level pros like Dolan, who won Commonwealth Gold at Super-Heavy in 2002. As I already said, I'm a qualified physician and I don't condone ill-organised events. At 38 there is no way you could get fit enough fast enough without compromising some aspect of your health. Its a lose-lose scenario for me. If I win, I lose what little anonymity I have left and all I have done is blow out a guy well below me in terms of skill. If I don't take the fight, I'm a coward and a fraud. Given that I didn't ask anyone for a fight, I'm within my rights to say no and leave it at that. I promise you mate, if you were ever good enough to fight and beat me, especially now at 28, then you would have gone on to have a very decent career in the first place.
