Poor showing from Sony at E3

I think myself it was a poor showing from Sony tonight. No big surprises at all. Although I am pumped for God Of War 3 I am sick of the CGI trailers that Sony continually pump out for its future games:mad:. I am seriously thinking about reverting back to my 360:rolleyes:

Like I said on the games forum just a few minutes ago, it's very hard to get excited on games alone, there no mediums this year. This always happens, post-console E3's are usually slow like this, just look at E3's from 2/3 years ago, all were very exciting, why? Consoles.

In all fairness MS or Nintendo aren't giving us much to look at either...

not sure what "reverting back to my 360" means, but i didn't see much from microsoft's show either, as per usual. they had one big announcement that doesn't affect anyone with a ps3 anyways... ff27000 part 2, millwall 1 (:D).

the show itself was never going to announce anything revolutionary. none of them were. i liked the DC universe stuff, the MAG stuff etc.

as for CGI, i wasn't paying mad attention but was it not only GOW3 that was pre-rendered? MAG looked a little touched up, but not pre-rendered.

my only big concern with the show was that there were no solid dates, bar the movie downloads service. they showed MAG, but with no date. they showed LBP, with no dates (apparently that's slipped to october now), etc.

i would have liked to see something from killzone, like an MP demo, beta program... anything.

I think there has been impressive announcements from Sony and M$ but whether these things will be good will depend on their implmentations.

A bad interface can make a service with potential unusable.

Sony's movie service sounds great but they have to solve the whole download time thing. I think if you could buy in work before you go home and have the console turn on to download it so you'd have it when you get home, it would be great.

I think Ms are planning something like this with theres but if you get home and it isn't finished, you can't start watching on Live as it currently is which sucks.

Basically merging the two video services would probably give the best result (as is usual with these things I guess).

Most of the other announcements weren't that exciting but download play on 360 should help with GTA pop up textures and increase load times etc.. which will be something to look forward to.

The Sony showing was very poor but at least it was the best of a very bad bunch imo.

trophy support is really up to the game developers themselves.

i don't see why this was a reason to over react trophies are just a load e-cock imo

I 'd say that should be here before xmas unless sony want to shoot themselves in the foot.

I'd say the FF announcement pretty much knocked the wind out of their sails.

Having FF13 was one of the main reasons for alot of people buying a PS3 in the first place, now that the exclusivity has gone, where does that leave them ?

i know no one who bought a ps3 for ff13. i'm not a fan but i haven't seen much hype about it around t'internets outside of the usual FF fans

Yeah I agree, not much that bothers me about the whole thing anyway.

    O Hai Brim,

Microsoft aren't planning anything like that :) YOu will be able to access the marketplace from xbox.com and purchase content which will then be downloaded once you turn on the console. You can start watching the movie while it downloads but it will only allow you to do that if the time it takes to download the movie is less than the actual length of the movie.
For me, I can start watching a movie just a minute after it starts to download!
    Now on to the topic:
I was dissappointed about Sony's conference... It showed little to none of the big titles like SOCOM, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet (except for using it as a visual aid) or Motorstorm 2.
They had 1 demo and that was Resistance 2 which I was impressed about and the trailer was good too.
The emphasis on PSP and PS2 pissed me off...PS2 is nearly dead and PSP is too! It just shows how much confidence they have in the Ps3.

Then of course they showed GOW III but it was CGI and MAG which sounds excellent but once again it was CGI. And no release dates given!

why would someone buy a PS3 now for a game that doesn't even have a release date? most people bought PS3 for MGS 4.

    Agreed,
I am a big fan of the FF series but i think that Square have completely lost the plot, with this franchise.
X was the last good FF.

I certainly did not buy the PS3 for Final Fantasy, nor anyone I know
