A 40-year-old woman has been convicted in Tullamore of two charges of incest against her second eldest son.
She was also convicted of sexually assaulting the same son and with the wilful ill-treatment and neglect of six of her children.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to six charges of ill-treatment and wilful neglect at a sitting of Tullamore Circuit Court this morning.

The offences took place on dates between 1 April 1998 and 11 October 2004 at the family home in the west of Ireland.
Judge Miriam Reynolds was told that the woman had extensive medical and psychiatric histories.
Judge Reynolds adjourned sentencing until January 2009 but ordered that the victims in this case should all receive the necessary care and counselling.
She said that after a conviction of this nature she was not of the view that bail should be provided unless strict circumstances were enforced.
She was satisfied that the woman was complying with strict conditions and therefore agreed to remand her on bail.

Who's to say that it doesn't happen as much. You may not hear about it though or maybe the victims don't come forward.
