Hi guys, ive decided to scan all my negs, only a couple of hundred (all b/w), using my epson 4990 flatbed. But im getting a blank black screen when i preview the scan. I am in professional mode, with file type being b/w negative and a 2400dpi. I also have the white back board removed and thumnail deselcted? Please if anyone can help it would be great as im keen to get these scans started. Thanks a million

Might be a stupid question, but have you got the transportation lock disengaged on the lid? :pac:
Apart from double-checking the cable that connects the lid to the scanner, resetting your configuration in the Epson Scan utility, and trying new drivers I can't think of what else to try... I can't see anything wrong with your settings either.
tbh I think I'd be getting on to epson.

Personally I much prefer using twains in CS2 than the packaged sofware - Give it a go :)

Try a different setting on epson twain...If you are scanning 35mm negative on film holder, try scanning Negative at a lower resolution first like 300dpi at 100% output and see if the image preview works.

Is there a light box built into the lid of that scanner? If so, lift the lid to ensure it is working ok.
