Anyone know anything about this 42" full HD panasonic plasma? How would it compare to the Samsung 6 series 40" full HD LCD? They are priced the same.

    Does anyone have the Panasonic?

So there is no built-in digital tuner at all?

In general how does this Panny rate amounst the competition in the same price bracket (€1500)? Is there anything about this Panny that would worry you or make you steer clear?

Is this the same model (with different name)? - http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=348426

thats the uk model which has a digital tuner built in but no analogue tuner.

the digital tuner is useless. there is a digital trial being broadcast at the moment. but when the proper service is launched it will be a different spec to the uk and so the digital tuner in the tv will be obsolete.

i have the version before this one and its brilliant. i use it for regular ntl digital and then BLu rays & dvds and the picture is brilliant. ntl can be a bit ropey but thats their fault for compression and not the tv.

    Thanks Big Moe

Sounds like this is the one to get so. If I could afford the Pioneer KURO I would be getting one but from what I hear, Panny are pretty good in the plasma market.

yeah the pioneers ae something else alright. panasonic is great value, i've had them for years and the new ones are great. we have them on in work with HD demo stuff and they're unreal.

if you're into films, get a blu ray player as well... quality is outstanding

Funny that was my next question...what is the best blu-ray player to get? I have a Panasonic DVD home cinema system already (4 years old) and am wondering if I can hook a blu-ray player into this and still get good sound quality?

Will all/most good blu-ray players also upscale standard DVD's?

any blu ray player i've seen can upscale dvds, but how good a job is a different story!

best one i've used is the Panasonic DMP-BD30. very good value as well, upscales dvds and can be made multi region for dvds. http://www.allianceelectric.ie/products/bluray/dmpbd30.htm

technically, yes your home cinema system would be fine, but i dont know if it would have the correct input. if it has an optical input, that will do.

or if you want a total upgrade panny have a new blu ray home cinema system
