Storm Over Venice

    A couple of pictures of a storm (probably/possibly a supercell) that passed over Venice last Sunday week (July 6th) while I was on my hols.

    This was one of a number of big storms (by Irish standards) that I experienced.

    In the first two, you can see the leading edge of the anvil in the bottom left hand corner (byond that blue sky) - the anvil was huge - no opportunity to take an overall picture.

    The remaing are of the storm passing (after approx. an hour and a half).

    Nice mammatus (if I say so myself!)

    That last shot is my favourite. It shows alot of detail. A wide angle lense would have captured everything but great shots man. I'll put you second against Trogdor's snaps.:)

    Nice pics there, i love mammatus clouds, always looks so crazy.
    Last picture is the best of the lot for me.

    Am i wrong in thinking those mammatus clouds are not common over here. I certainly don't recall ever seeing any here :o

    Usually in the stronger storms and also i find them more common in March/April than the summer months in this country.
