Haven't actually seen it, but I've heard it's good. I'd like to read the biography too... apparently it was written by a journalist friend of his.

I've read that one. It's Called the Stranger Beside Me, written by Ann Rule who is a crime writer/journalist.

She worked with him for years in a call centre place along the lines of the Samaritans and talks about how crazy it was that he was working there saving lives while killing people. It's a good read, very good look at the duality of his personality

Yea it's really disconcerting thinking that these people could be anywhere! I was going down to Galway and I was considering staying at a B&B but how do I know there isn't one of these crazy-f*ck psychos staying there? The kind that buy new bikes just to hunt down innocent victims... *shudders*
Come to think of it, statistically there's probably one of these scumbags on boards! yikes!

Was watching crime channel recently about a serial killer in england called acid bath killer John Haigh. He did it for money. He was not insane and he showed absolutely no remorse.

I was thinking afterwards how depraved some people are, These people are usually more than capable of having a small family and making a living.

    *******************

The Ted bundy film throws as much black humour at the crimes as it can but in the end it is just extremely sickening. You could be forgiven for finding the movie slightly black humour.

In those days and in real life there was something strange about how the authorities treated this man. In real life at the court trial, Ted Bundy was allowed to defend his entire case and cross examine his own victims. One the victims of the university dorm attack, took the stand and it was she described how she had her skull smashed in and the serious harm he did to her and the fact she had stel plates in her head and she as disfigured. Bundy then gets up and cross examines her. It was terrible stuff.

After he was found guilty the judge sums up by saying that he was a bright young man with a brilliant career ahead of him. That is no joke. Those were the last words in the judges summary. I have seen the footage. Crazy times.

Murder 6: Nilsen could recall very little about this and the following two victims. All that he could remember about number six was that he was a young Irish labourer that he had met in a bar.
Murder 7: The seventh victim was what Nilsen described as a starving "hippy-type" he had found sleeping in a doorway in Charing Cross.
Murder 8: Nilsen could recall nothing at all about his eighth victim except that he kept him under the floorboards of his flat until he removed the corpse and cut it into three pieces then put it back again. He burned the corpse one year later.
Murder 9 and Murder 10: Both were young Scottish men, picked up in pubs in Soho.
Murder 11: The eleventh victim was a skinhead Nilsen picked up in Piccadilly Circus who had a tattoo around his neck saying "cut here". He had boasted to Nilsen how tough he was and how he liked to fight; however, once he was drunk, he proved no match for Nilsen, who hung his naked torso in his bedroom for 24 hours before he was buried under the floorboards

Well there is one guy who killed about 300 children across South America, another in Ukraine who slaughtered whole families at a time, another in the States who ate people and another in the same country who killed 50 odd women and was only caught a couple years ago. Even in Ireland there's one guy locked up who's suspected of a lot of things too.

The list goes on and on and on...

i read a story a while back about a chap called the flip flop assassin. i think he was in peru or somewhere. he used to tickle his victims to death and he'd always leave a pair of flip flops with the bodies, havaiana's mostly. how f*cked up is that?

Ted Bundy was a deeply strange bloke but as people have said there have been worse.

In regards love letters to him. A lot of high profile serial killers or people on death on death row get fan mail and love letters. It's well known. A lot of woman love the hard man image and feel they can change him.

Yeah i always remember the judge's summing up- fcuking weird.
Remember him saying something like "Take it easy, partner" or some such sh1te.

Strange how serial killers command a kind of awe (and "regard" almost) among people rather than outright disgust- as opposed to your common-or-garden once-off murderer who is invariably (justifiably of course) reviled.

Fascination with the (invariably) sociopathic nature of serial killers is understandable but that sort of respect/deference is weird.
The women who idolise serial killers is this phenomenon at its craziest.
What kind of life would such a woman imagine with a serial killer.
    A short one maybe.
    People are fcuked up.

I doubt there is many psychos on boards.ie a they are rare per population and ireland has a small population. I think your being slightly paranoid Jimmy as well as damaging the BB industry where, as far as i am aware there is no connection with these pyschos.

I wouldn't belive anything you read in irish newspaper either because between the gardai exaggerating and the media sensationalising and the obvious mis quotes you do get alot of false facts being printed.
Take a well known miscarriage of justice

It's all very well for a newspaper to print that a publican was using his premises for selling drugs. what can you do, it's complete nonsense, but your going to have to wait 16 years before you get justice. The the rag is going to print the facts again except it took 16 years to get those facts corrected.

You can only trust the people in society, if you want to put your faith into a biased and incompetent newspaper, then your going to have to be prepared to be proven wrong.

sounds an awful lot like the jigsaw killer. now there was one demented individual. tracking down poor innocent girls he saw being interviewed on news programmes. and bikes? jesus, all the weird folk seem to have this in common. and statistically, you're probably right
