Vertical Pink line on monitor

    hey guys
    about 6 months ago I got a new computer system from Komplett.ie with a Samsung SyncMaster 226bw. Everything was grand till about 25 minutes ago when a vertical pink line 1pixel wide appeared running from top to bottom. It appears over everything, games, dos, even before windows starts up. Ive tried safe mood, changing resolutions etc and its still there. The pink line only becomes hidden once i put a box with a white background over it.
    Is my monitor screwed, thinking of ringing komplett in the morning for a replacement as its only 6 months old.

    well it is in warranty and its effectively a defect. go ahead and call komplett and let them know you need to send it in for a repair or replacement. Better to try and get fresh hardware anyway while you have the chance.

    were it out of warranty I would suggest cracking open the lid and making sure the video cable is seated properly but in your case I'd definitely go with my former advice.

    It's not software related. The screen is damaged, a lot of flat screens I've seen get a pink or green spot after a while. Should defo get it replace if you have the invoice.

    screens fecked, happened to my one (not same make) about 2 years back, eventually it died altogether and had to get it replaced.

    I'd try a pixel tester on the screen first before sending it back.

    I use DPT.

    I wrote back to komplett looking for an RMA (return authorisation) and they denied me on the grounds that the problem doesnt seem like a proper fault? But taht I could reply back to them with more information, but ive told them everything already, there is only so many ways i can describe a very bright pink line that doesnt go away.

    The pink line is showing up all the time, even when I have the computer turned off and the monitor on, the line is there.

    Ive since got onto Samsung directly and they are going to ring me back later on about it. I hope I get a replacement monitor as this is really annoying.

    best way to describe it is with digital images: whip out a camera and fire off some JPEGs in your next email - theyll probably try and fool you into thinking its a virus or something: dont let them.

    Sorry to hear its a Samsung - I like them.

    got the monitor replaced with a brand new one from Samsung direct, hopefully will have no problems with this one:)
